Question 326183: if the average of three different positive integers is 70 what is the greatest possible value of one of the integers? Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! if the average of three different positive integers is 70 what is the greatest possible value of one of the integers?
----
Let the integers be x,y,and z.
Equation:
(x+y+z)/3 = 70
---
x + y + z = 210
The least values x and y can take are 1 and 2
Then:
1 + 2 + z = 210
x = 207 is the greatest value one of the integers can have.
