You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Ray is 4 times older than Nica. Ten years from now, he will be twice as old as she is. How old is she now?
==============
Now:
R = 5N
In 10 years:
R + 10 = 2*(N+10)
---
5N+10 = 2N+20
3N = 10
N = 3 1/3 years
R = 16 2/3 years
===================
The solution is not integers, as expected.
The writer of the problem thinks 4 times older = 4 times as old. It doesn't.
Is 1 time older the same age? If so, why is it called older?
--
4 times older --> an increase in age of 400% --> 5 times as old.
