You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I am 30 and my daughter is 3 so I was 27 when she was born.
At what age will I be 3 times her age?
:
Let y = no. of years for this to be true
:
A simple equation:
:
y + 30 = 3(y + 3)
y + 30 = 3y + 9
30 - 9 = 3y - y
21 = 2y
y = 21%2F2
y = 10.5 yrs
:
In 10.5 years you will be 3 times as old as your daughter
:
:
Confirm this
30 + 10.5 = 3(3 + 10.5)
40.5 = 3(13.5)
40.5 = 40.5; usually these kind of problems have integer solutions but this one does not.
