You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
P = 2J                  (1)
(P+2) + (J+2) = 40      (2)

Substitute (1) into (2):

(2J+2) + (J+2) = 40

3J + 4 = 40  ====>  3J = 40 - 4 = 36  ====>  J = 36%2F3 = 12.

Answer. Jean is 12 ears old.
