If the difference in their ages now is 8, then the difference in their ages 10 years ago was also 8 -- the difference in the ages doesn't change.

So if 10 years ago Ben was twice as old as Sarah, and the difference in their ages was 8, then their ages 10 years ago were 16 and 8.

So now, 10 years later, their ages are 26 and 18.
