You can put this solution on YOUR website! Brothers Sam and Josh are both four less than triple their sisters age.
the sum of their ages is 48, how old is each boy?
:
Let s = the sisters age
Sam & Josh must be twins (the same age) = (3s - 4)
:
The sum of their ages is 48
(3s-4) + (3s-4) + s = 48
6s - 8 + s = 48
6s + s = 48 + 8
7s = 56
s = 56/7
s = 8 years old is the sister
then
3(8) - 4 = 20 yrs is Sam and Josh's ages
:'
You can see their ages add up to 48
