How to Get There
You will need your pasport and you visa. Visas are expensive, not sure exactly how but for comparison I can tell you that US multiple entry visa for Russian citizens used to cost 450$ and the visa fees for US citizens to get to Russia ought to be comparable.
Then you will need the tickets. Unless you are flying from New York or on Aeroflot from Seattle or Los Angeles, you will have to make a stop in Europe. I prefer Air France as their service is way better than Delta or any other carrier I used. My recommendation is to avoid Lufthansa at all costs, they lose baggage like crazy. Now, I know there is a perception that Aeroflot is flying Tupolevs dating back to Olympics in Moscow of 1980 and hence is unsafe. Let me assure you that this is a bunch of nonsense. They fly new Boeings, serve caviar on board, have the fastest times to destination (Moscow) in the whole industry and even charge more than Delta or Air France. And goes without saying, they care about what you think of them and I am pretty sure will do their bests to please you with the overall quality of flight. So don't be afraid to give them a try, and feel free to let me know if something doesn't work for your the way I advertise it here, I will post your opinion for everyone's sake.
