Expressions-with-variables/315315: Nick works two jobs to pay for college. He tutors for $15 per hour and also works as a bag boy for $8 per hour. Due to his class and study schedule, Nick is only able to work up to 20 hours per week, but must earn at least $150 per week. If t represents the number of hours Nick tutors and b represents the number of hours he works as a bag boy, which system of inequalities represents this scenario?
t + b 20
15t + 8b = 150
t + b 20
15t + 8b 150
t + b 20
15t + 8b 150
None of the systems shown represent this scenario.

Answer 225606 by user_dude2008(1861) About Me  on 2010-06-17 17:05:21 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Cell Plus: y=0.06x+27

Cell Best: y=0.05x+30

0.06x+27=0.05x+30

0.06x-0.05x=30-27

0.01x=3

x=3/(0.01)

x=300

Triangles/315207: If the perimeter of a triangle is a+b+c, then the perimeter of an isosceles triangle should be 2a+b. If the perimeter of an isosceles triangle equals 14 feet, then 2a+b=14. If we solve for b, then b=14-2a. Possible solutions for the sides of this isosceles triangle suggest that a could be equal to 1,2,3 which would make b equal to 12,10,8 respectively. But sides of these measurement will not yield a triangle of any kind. Can you help me explain why/why not?
