Answer 354987 by umnikmo(75) About Me  on 2011-12-08 10:19:51 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
from the first we can find x in terms of y: x=4y/3, now we substitute this into second equation, we get:
4y/3=(2y+1)/3
we can multiply both sides by 3:
4y=2y+1
2y=1
y=1/2.
now, as x=4y/3=4*(1/2)/3=2/3
same as your answers.

fist we assume 6x-1>0 so x>1/6
6x-1<=7
6x<=8
x<=4/3
so x E (1/6;4/3]
now we assume 6x-1<=0 so x<=1/6
1-6x<=7
x>=-1
so x E [-1;1/6]
Ans: x E [-1;4/3]
