if other factors are held constant, how does increasing the sample variance affect the value of the independent-measures t statistic and the likelihood of rejecting the null hypothesis?
----
the test statistic and the variance are directly related.
If variance t value increases
If t value increases p-value decreases.
If p-value decreases there is more likelihood of rejecting Ho.

a metal solid at fahrenheit below 1772.7 determine (in terms of an inquality) those celsius temperature for which the metal stays a solid.
Use formula F=9/5 c + 32
------
1772.7 = (9/5)c + 32
-------
(9/5)c = 1740.7
---
c = 967.056

find the roots of the polynomial equation:x^3-2x^2+10x+136=0
-----
---
I graph the cubic and found a zero at x = -4
----
Using synthetic division, find the other zeros:
-4)....1....-2....10....136
........1....-6....34...|..0
----
Quotient: x^2-6x+34
---
Find the zeros of the quotient:
x = [6 +- sqrt(6^2-4*34)]/2
---
x = [6 +- sqrt(36-136)]/2
---
x = [6 +- sqrt(-100)]/2
---
x = [2 +- 5i]
x = 2+5i or x = 2 - 5i or -4

Polynomials-and-rational-expressions/557274: Divide 27x^3-63x^2-105x-27/9x+3. I have started this off by doing the long division process. It's kind of hard to show my work on here, but I am having trouble when it comes to dividing the -105x. So far I have my answer as 3x^2+6x. When I divide -87 by 9 I receive -9.67

There is a common factor of 3 in the numerator and the denominator.
= (9x^3-21x^2-35x-9)/(3x+1)
----
Divide numerator and denominator by 3 to get
-1/3)....9....-21....-35....-9
..........9.....-24....-27...|..0
-----

Quotient: 9x^2-24x-27
Remainder = 0

Divide the quotient by 3 to get:
= 3x^2-8x-9

You have an arithmetic sequence with a(1) = 3 and d = 4
-----
Formula: a(n) = a(1) + (n-1)d
---
So, a(20) = 3 + 19*4 = 3 + 76 = 79

Express the set in roster form.
c = {x|x+3=44}
----
Since x+3 = 44 implies that x = 41,

eva invested a certain amount of money at 15% interest and $2500 more than that amount at 16%. her total yearly interest was $1485. How much did she invest at each rate?
-------------------
Equation:
interest + interest = interest
0.15x + 0.16(x+2500) = 1485
----
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
15x + 16x + 16*2500 = 148500
----
31x = 108500
x = $3500 (amt. invested at 15%)
----
x+2500 = $6000 (amt. invested at 16%)
