You only need to look at the denominator; Since it is a radical the radicand
must be >=0; but since it is the denominator it cannot be zero.
So it must be 2x^3+7x^2+6x-21>0
Graph to see where it is >0
I get x>1.2083653
That is the domain

You can put this solution on YOUR website!Find sec(x) if sin(x)= -4/5 and 270 degrees < x < 360 degrees.
------------
sin(theta)= y/r
x=sqrt(r^2-y^2)

Your problem:
y = -4
r=5
So, x=sqrt(25-16)=3
-----------
sec(theta) = r/x = 5/3

You can see all this if you draw an angle in the 4th quadrant;
let the distance from the origin be r=5; let the distance below
the x-axis be 4; then the 3rd side is x=3 and the sec(theta)=r/x=5/3

Y=1/(x-5). So for I have the Domain as (infinite,5) u (5,infinite) and my Range at x=1-5/y .That is as for as I have been able to get. Please help me!!
----------------------
Domain looks good.
Range: Can you think of any value you could not substitute for y?
Can 1/anything be zero? Hmmm? If 0=1/(x-5) then 0=1?
So the Range is all Real numbers excluding y=0.
y-intercept: Let x=0, then y=1/5
x-intercept: Let y=0 then ? We found that y cannot be zero; so no x-intercept.
Symmetry:
f(x) = 1/(x-5)
f(-x)=1/(x+5)
-f(-x)= -1/(x+5)
None of these are equal to no symmetry.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!Last year a manufacturer had a sales total for january that was 50 percent greater than the average of the monthly sales totals for February through December. The sales totals for january was what fraction of the sales total for the year?
-------------
let "x" dollars be the average of monthly sales totals for Feb thru Dec.
Note: that is the average for 11 months.
Then the total of sales for the 11 months is 11x dollars
Then the sales for January was 1.5x.
So the Jan sales was 1.5x/(11x+1.5x)= 1.5x/12.5x = 1.5/12.5 = 3/25 of the
sales total for the year.

If the total interest earned from these three investments is to be $2,730, how much is he investing in the certificate?
-------------
Let amt invested at 4% be "x" : interest on this is 0.04x dollars
Amt invested at 5% is "2x" ; interest on this is 0.05(2x)=0.10x dollars
Then "50,000-x-2x" is invested at 7%; interest on this is 0.07(50,000-2x)dollars
---------------
EQUATION:
int + int + int = 2730 dollars
0.04x + 0.1x + 0.07(50,000-3x)=2730
4x+10x+7(50,000-3x)=273000
-7x+350000=273000
-7x=-77000
x=11000 (amt invested at 4%)

Answer 56269 by stanbon(57387) on 2007-04-16 20:25:02 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!You know that every Real number has two square roots: 2 is the pricipal square
root of 4 and -2 is the secondary square root of four.
--------------
when it comes to cube roots and higher it gets a little more complecated.
The priciple cube root of 8 is 2 because 2*2*2=8
There are two other cube roots but you have to understand the complex
number system to express them.
Similarly there are 4 4th roots of numbers, 5 5th roots of numbers,
and, in general, n nth roots of numbers.
When you study trigonometry and find out about a Frenchman named
DeMoivre you will find out how to calculate these "other" roots.
Hope this helps.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!Simplify the expression. Square root of 7/8
You want the denominator to be a perfect square; so you multiply numerator
and denominator by 2 to get:
sqrt(14/16) =(sqrt14)/(sqrt16) = (sqrt14)/4
