However, Savannah's mother was friends with the box office guy, and received a discount of 25% off.

Money saved = 0.25*150 = $37.50
My question:
What are two let statements, and 2 equations that represent this word problem?

price per discounted ticket = 150-0.25*150 = 0.75*150 = $112.50

Find three consecutive even integers such that the sum of the smallest and the largest is 36.
---
1st: 2x-2
2nd: 2x
3rd: 2x+2
------
Equation:
2x-2 + 2x+2 = 36
4x = 36
x = 9
---
1st: 2x-2 = 18-2 = 16
2nd: 18
3rd: 20

---
Arrange the two groups: 2 ways
Arrange the women: 15! ways
Arrange the men: 10! ways
---
Total arrangements: 2*15!*10! = 9.4906x10^18

----
False. It's the absolute value of r that is
compared to the proper table value.

Linear_Equations_And_Systems_Word_Problems/503548: Greetings.
Anthony Vandorpe here
I am working on a math word problem in the category of systems of linear equations.
Here is the general form of the question they gave me:
there are 2 runners, if they run towards each other, the time elapsed is 12 mins, and the distance is 2 miles presumably they meet at some point in that 2 mile distance).
If they start running in the same (at the same starting point?) direction, the faster runner will overtake the slower runner in 2 hours.
This may seem like a simple one to solve, in addition, once I get the 2 linear equations placed in standard form, I am to solve for the variables, and find I think, the running rate of the faster runner and the running rate of the slower runner. I just don't know how to set up this one. I would appreciate your help. Best regards, Anthony C. Vandorpe

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
there are 2 runners, if they run towards each other, the time elapsed is 12 mins, and the distance is 2 miles presumably they meet at some point in that 2 mile distance).
----
1st runner data:
distance = x miles ; time = 1/6 hr ; rate = distance/time = 6x mph
---
2nd runner data:
distance = 2-x miles ; time = 1/6 hr; rate = distance/time = 12-6x mph
-------------------------------------
If they start running in the same (at the same starting point?) direction, the faster runner will overtake the slower runner in 2 hours.
1st runner data:
rate = 6x mph ; time = 2 hrs ; distance = rt = 12x miles
---
2nd runner data:
rate = 12-6x mph ; time = 2 hrs ; distance = rt = 24-12x miles
----------------
Solve for "x":
distance = distance
12x = 24-12x
24x = 24
x = 1 mile
--------------------
You didn't say what the question was but
with the value of "x" you can figure out
the time and rate for each of the runners.

Find the number of sides of a regular polygon each of whose interior angles contains 120 degrees.
----
Each exterior angle is 180-120 = 60 degrees
---
# of exterior angles = 360/60 = 6
---
# of sides = # of exterior angles = 6

Equations/503517: 1) 1/2q-5>3Q
This is what i have so far and am stuck.
1q-5>3q
2) 13x-5=x+1
3)Not sure if the answer is right. But I did tried
3/4q+11=4q+37
3q+44=16q+148
16q+148=3q+44
148 +60
16q = 3q+60
-3 -3
13 = 60
Divdie both sides by 13 answer is -4
4) 2/3y-7=5y+19
3y-21=15y+57
15y+57=3y-21
57 +57
15y = 3y-36
-3 -3
12y = 36
divide by 12 on both sides Answer 3

1) (1/2)q-5>3q
Multiply both sides by 2 to get:
q - 10 > 6q
---
5q< -10
---
q < -2
===================
2) 13x-5=x+1
12x = 6
x = 1/2
===================

(3/4)q+11 = 4q+37
Multiply thru by 4 to get:
3q + 44 = 16q + 148
13q = -104
q = -8
-------------------------
4) (2/3)y-7=5y+19
Multiply thru by 3 to get:
2y - 14 = 10y + 38
8y = -52
y = -13/2
---------------------------
5)5z-3>3z+1
2z > 4
z > 2
