Equations/586172: Can you please help me answer this question?
c) convert 0.346 to a fraction where the 4 and 6 in 0.346 are recurring
I have completed the same question for 0.04 where the four is recurring but the method I used (let x = 0.0444444....; 100x = 4.44444....; 99x=4.4: therefore x = 44/990)does not work for 0.346.
Thankyou very much for your help!!!!''.

Quadratic_Equations/584959: OK, first of all the problem that I need help with is P(x)=-x^2+110x-1,000. P being 5, 50, and 120. I think that if I can get help answering the five then I should be able to figure out the 50 and the 120 (I hope). I am going to college and totally lost so if you could help me with this problem I would greatly appreciate it. I also have to graph it when I am done, but like I said earlier if I can figure out the answer to P(x)=-x^2+110x-1,000 with P being 5 I should be able to get the rest. 1 solutions

Probability-and-statistics/584800: If you roll a die 60 times what's the probability of landing on a 1 or a 6? How do I explain to a fifth grader how to find the answer. I also need that as a percent and a fraction. 1 solutions
Answer 372902 by scott8148(6628) on 2012-03-09 11:50:07 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!a 1 or a 6 are 1/3 of the 6 faces of a die, so the probability of NOT getting one or the other, on any given roll, is 2/3
since each roll is a separate (independent) event
___the probability of NOT getting a 1 or 6 on 60 rolls is 2/3 times itself, 60 times, (2/3)^60 -- a very small number
since an event HAS TO either happen or not happen, the sum of the two probabilities is 1
___ so the probability of 1 or 6 in 60 rolls is ___ 1 - (2/3)^60
this makes sense because it is difficult to imagine rolling a fair die 60 times without getting a 1 or 6
1 - [(2/3)^60] = 1 - 2.72x10^-11 = 1 - 0.0000000000272 = 0.9999999999728
it would be more than a thousand times easier to win a Powerball jackpot

Answer 372799 by scott8148(6628) on 2012-03-08 19:27:46 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!"the building is ten feet longer than wide" ___ so the perimeter of the sidewalk will be also
2x + 2(x + 10) = 192 ___ 4x + 20 = 192 ___ x = 43, x + 10 = 53
area of building plus sidewalk ___ 43 * 53
area of sidewalk ___ 704
area of building ___ (43 - 2w)(53 - 2w) where w is the width of the sidewalk
(43 * 53) - 704 = (43 - 2w)(53 - 2w) ___ 4w^2 - 192w - (43 * 53) + 704 = 0
