Answer 172587 by scott8148(6628) About Me  on 2009-11-01 23:23:15 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
"Angle A is 4 times as large as Angle B" ___ A = 4B

"Angle C measures 20degrees less than Angle B" ___ C = B - 20

A + B + C = 180

4B + B + B - 20 = 180 ___ 6B - 20 = 180 ___ 6B = 200 ___ B = 200/6 = 100/3

substituting ___ A = 4 (200/6) = 800/6 = 400/3

substituting ___ C = 200/6 - 120/6 = 80/6 = 40/3

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x = "total days to complete work"

(x - 8)/36 + (x - 12)/54 + x/72 = 1

multiplying by 216 (LCD) ___ 6x - 48 + 4x - 48 + 3x = 216 ___ 13x = 312

x = 24

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
t = 504 / r

t - 3 = 504 / r+14

substituting ___ 504/r - 3 = 504 / r+14

multiplying by r(r+14) ___ 504r + 7056 - 3r^2 - 42r = 504r

subtracting 504r and dividing by -3 ___ r^2 + 14r - 2352 = 0

factoring ___ (r + 56)(r - 42) = 0

r - 42 = 0 ___ r = 42

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x="longer leg"; so x+20=hypotenuse

60^2 + x^2 = (x + 20)^2

x^2 + 3600 = x^2 + 40x + 400

3200 = 40x

80 = x
