If I double the area to 702, what are the proportionate side measurements? 1 solutions
Answer 303367 by rwm(914) on 2011-04-21 11:21:13 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!351 what?
702 what?
18 what?
19.5 what?
This problem is incomplete.
You could double either of the sides but not both.
so it could be 36*19.5 or 39*18
or many variations in between as represented by the line equation
18x+19.5y=702

Average/437465: Suppose Krishan's teacher says that he can drop one of his test scores of 80, 100, and 85, which one should he drop and why? What is his new average? 1 solutions
Answer 302635 by rwm(914) on 2011-04-18 17:57:30 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!Drop the 100 because Krishan obviously cheated on that one.
so the new average would be (80+85)/2=82.5
or drop the 80 (85+100)/2=92.5

Probability-and-statistics/437479: This is a stumper of a probability question.....There are 6 models of a new car. It comes in 14 different colors. If I want 6 cars and they want to know if I have any color preferences, I say no, I don't care as long as they are different colors-how many possible shipments could they send me?
I have tried combinations and I know it is not a permutation. Could it be 14*13**12*11*10*9...Help PLEASE!!! 1 solutions
Answer 302629 by rwm(914) on 2011-04-18 17:50:42 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The question is poorly worded
There are six models and 14 colors
You only dealt with the colors and not 6 models.
You are allowing duplicates of models.

Problems-with-consecutive-odd-even-integers/437307:
3)The product of two consecutive intergers is 11 more than their sum. Find the intergers 1 solutions
Answer 302496 by rwm(914) on 2011-04-18 11:20:24 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!The word is integers not inteRgers.
You only get to ask one question at a time and no similar questions.
There are other students with questions.We are here to help not do your homework.
See rules.
question 3
let the first integer be x and the second be x+1
x*(x+1)=11+x+x+1
x^2-x-12=0
x=-3 x+1=-2
x=4 x+1=5
so there are two answers
-3 and -2
check
-3*-2=6
-3+-2=-5
6- -5=11
ok
4 and 5
check
4*5=20
4+5=9
20-9=11
ok

You can put this solution on YOUR website!6s+6g=900
4s+8g=100
s+g=150
s+2g=25
s=150-g
s=25-2g
150-g=25-2g
125=-g
something is wrong with your numbers.
perhaps 90 instead of 900
s+g=15
s+2g=25
15-g=25-2g
g=10
s=5
