Expressions-with-variables/371529: seven less than 12 times a number is 53

1 solutions

Answer 265257 by rmcaz79(8) About Me  on 2010-11-16 22:56:13 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x = a number
12x-7=53
This equations is seven less than 12 times a number is 53. Now you just have to solve the equation to find the number.
12x-7=53
+7 +7
12x=60
12x/12=60/12
x=5

Equations/372395: 5(w-7)=-15
1 solutions

Answer 265250 by rmcaz79(8) About Me  on 2010-11-16 22:13:47 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First you need to get rid of the parenthesis. Then solve for w.
5(w-7)=-15
5w-35=-15
+35 +35
5w=20
5w/5=20/5
w=4

Human-and-algebraic-language/367968: 1) 5 times a number and 7 times the same number =6

1 solutions

Answer 262496 by rmcaz79(8) About Me  on 2010-11-09 09:39:32 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First you need to turn the word problem into an equation then solve for x
Five times a number= 5x
and 7 times the same number= +7x=6
Your equation is follows
5x+7x=6
add like terms
12x=6
divde both sides by 12
12x/12=6/12
x=6/12
x=1/2

Twenty seven less than d equals thirteen.

Linear-equations/351621: solve and please show work so i can understand this process thank you
-3(2x+1)=2(x-2)
1 solutions

Answer 251273 by rmcaz79(8) About Me  on 2010-10-04 12:48:20 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First you would multipy, next you have to get the variables on one side and the numbers on the other.

-3(2x+1)=2(x-2)
-6x-3=2x-4
-2x -2x
-8x-3=-4
+3 +3
-8x=-1
-8x/-8=-1/-8
x=-1/8

Equations/347710: 2(6-4d)=25-9d
1 solutions

Answer 248612 by rmcaz79(8) About Me  on 2010-09-24 18:26:22 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First you need to get rid of the parenthesis by multiplying.
Next, you would subteact 12 from both sides.
Then, you need to add 9d to both sides.
This will leave you with the d's on one side on the numbers on the other.

2(6-4d)=25-9d
12-8d=25-9d
-12 -12
-8d=13-9d
+9d +9d
d=13

Equations/347620: 2. Solve the following equations for x.
(a) 4x + 6 = 30
(b) 5(x – 4) = 3x + 10

1 solutions

Answer 248608 by rmcaz79(8) About Me  on 2010-09-24 18:12:28 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
With equations, you need to get x on one side and the number on the other.
Equation (a)
4x+6=30
First you would subtract 6 form both sides
Then you would divide both sides by four which will give you with the answer for x.
(a)
4x+6=30
-6 -6
4x=24
4x/4=24/4
x=6
Equations (b)
5(x-4)=3x+10
With this equation you need to get rid of the parenthesis first. You do that by multiplying.
Then you need to get all the x's on one side and the numbers on the other.

(b)
5(x-4)=3x+10
5x-20=3x+10
+20 +20
5x =3x+30
-3x -3x
2x=30
2x/2=30/2
x=15

Numbers_Word_Problems/335213: I am a number between 4000 and 5000. My ones digit is 3 less than 9, my tens digit is half my ones digit and my hundreds digit is twice my thousands digit. What number am I?
Thank you!

Answer 240367 by rmcaz79(8) About Me  on 2010-08-26 16:16:50 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If your one's digit is 3 less than 9
9-3=6
The tens digit is half the ones digit
1/2 of 6= 3
The hundreds digit is twice the thousands digit. Remember the number has to be between 4000-5000
The hundreds digit would be 8
Since the hundreds digit is twice the thousands digit the thousands digit would be 4
The answer would be: 4836
