Too many questions. One question per submission and no similar questions.
Ill answer 2 and 3
2- slope is 0. y never changes. y intercept is when x=0 (0,6) horizontal line
3) parallel
slope is undefined since x( the denominator) never changes and the change in x is 0. Division by zero is undefined. Vertical line

Solved by pluggable solver: Factoring using the AC method (Factor by Grouping)
In order to factor 8%2Ax%5E2-24%2Ax%2B18, first multiply the leading coefficient 8 and the last term 18 to get 144. Now we need to ask ourselves: What two numbers multiply to 144 and add to -24? Lets find out by listing all of the possible factors of 144

Factors:

1,2,3,4,6,8,9,12,16,18,24,36,48,72,144,

-1,-2,-3,-4,-6,-8,-9,-12,-16,-18,-24,-36,-48,-72,-144, List the negative factors as well. This will allow us to find all possible combinations

These factors pair up to multiply to 144.

1*144=144

2*72=144

3*48=144

4*36=144

6*24=144

8*18=144

9*16=144

12*12=144

(-1)*(-144)=144

(-2)*(-72)=144

(-3)*(-48)=144

(-4)*(-36)=144

(-6)*(-24)=144

(-8)*(-18)=144

(-9)*(-16)=144

(-12)*(-12)=144

note: remember two negative numbers multiplied together make a positive number

Now which of these pairs add to -24? Lets make a table of all of the pairs of factors we multiplied and see which two numbers add to -24

||||||||||||||||
First Number|Second Number|Sum
1|144|1+144=145
2|72|2+72=74
3|48|3+48=51
4|36|4+36=40
6|24|6+24=30
8|18|8+18=26
9|16|9+16=25
12|12|12+12=24
-1|-144|-1+(-144)=-145
-2|-72|-2+(-72)=-74
-3|-48|-3+(-48)=-51
-4|-36|-4+(-36)=-40
-6|-24|-6+(-24)=-30
-8|-18|-8+(-18)=-26
-9|-16|-9+(-16)=-25
-12|-12|-12+(-12)=-24

We can see from the table that -12 and -12 add to -24. So the two numbers that multiply to 144 and add to -24 are: -12 and -12

So the original quadratic

8%2Ax%5E2-24%2Ax%2B18

breaks down to this (just replace -24%2Ax with the two numbers that multiply to 144 and add to -24, which are: -12 and -12)

8%2Ax%5E2%2Bhighlight%28-12x-12x%29%2B18 Replace -24%2Ax with -12x-12x

Group the first two terms together and the last two terms together like this:

%288%2Ax%5E2-12x%29%2B%28-12x%2B18%29

Factor a 4x out of the first group and factor a -6 out of the second group.

4x%282x-3%29%2B-6%282x-3%29

Now since we have a common term 2x-3 we can combine the two terms.

%284x-6%29%282x-3%29 Combine like terms.

Answer:

So the quadratic 8%2Ax%5E2-24%2Ax%2B18 factors to %284x-6%29%282x-3%29

Notice how %284x-6%29%282x-3%29 foils back to our original problem 8%2Ax%5E2-24%2Ax%2B18. This verifies our answer.

saved=.70(x-10)

Matrices-and-determiminant/631491: Use matrices to solve the system of equations (if possible). Use Gaussian elimination with back-substitution or Gauss-Jordan elimination. (If there is no solution, enter NO SOLUTION. If the system is dependent, set z = a and solve for x and y in terms of a.)
3x − 2y + z = 7
−x + y + 2z = −12
x − y − 4z = 20

to Boston
x=442/65 +1
return trip to DC
y=442/60+3/4
x~~7.8=468 minutes
y~~8.11667= 487 minutes
The return trip takes longer by about 19 minutes

Triangles/631368: Please help me solve this equation:
Triangle ABC is isosceles with AC = BC. If AC = 3x + 8, BC = 5x - 4, and AB = 2x + 4, find the perimeter of the triangle.
I have tried solving this by myself already by solving for x and then substituting it, but the answers I get are not equal. It says that AC and BC are supposed to be congruent, but my answers are very far from each other. However, I think I got the formula for this correctly. Since it isn't a regular polygon, the formula for the perimeter is the two sides + the base, right? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
set the two sides equal
3x+8=5x-4
12=2x
6=x
check
30-4=26
ok
18+6=24
ok
The perimeter is the sum of the three sides.
p=3x+8+5x-4+2x+4
p=24+24+16
p=64

Equations/631318: Given 3x+k-5 = kx-k+1, what is the value of k to make x=0 be the solution of the linear equation?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
plug in 0 for x and find k
3x+k-5 = kx-k+1
k-5=-k+1
2k=6
k=3
check
plug in 3 for k and see if x=0
3x+3-5=3x-3+1
-2=-2
ok
when k=3 x can equal anything.
