Nothing confusing, you just plot the points
that is all there is to it. plot and plot some more.
Don't know why you have one group labelled x and one y
the points are generally labelled x,y but do what you must

Probability-and-statistics/285113: how long would it take a bus traveling at 60 mph to overtake a car traveling at 50 mph that had a 1.5 hour head start?
1 solutions

Answer 206728 by richwmiller(9143) About Me  on 2010-03-25 03:15:55 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
60x=50(x+1.5)
60x=50x+75
10x=75
x=7.5
think about it
the car had a 75 mile head start
the bus is gaining on the car at 10 mph
so it will take 7.5 hours to make up the 75 miles.

Mixture_Word_Problems/285111: How many gallons of water should be added to 30 gallons of a solution that is 70% antifreeze in order to obtain a mixture that is 60% antifreeze?
1 solutions

Answer 206727 by richwmiller(9143) About Me  on 2010-03-25 03:13:00 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!

from the standpoint of antifreeze
.7*30=.60*(30+x)
2.10=1.80+.6x
.30=.6x
5=x
x= 5 gallons of water
from the standpoint of water
(.3*30)+x=(30+x)*.4
9+x=12.+.4x
.6x=3
multiply by 10
6x=30
x=5 gallons of water

250*2 for the winter=$500 for the winter.
But what does the fireplace insert cost including purchase delivery, installation and maintenance?
You work backwards starting with what you know and working towards the amount saved.
5*120=600 hours
33,000*600=bTU's per hour=19,000,000 btu's
190*100,000
190 therms*.70 per therm
$133
500-133=367 saved
Solar energy is cheap but the initial cost is very high. Is it he same with the insert?
