Trigonometry-basics/290975: I am not certain if anyone can help me with this trig problem. I am not sure what is really considered trig basics.
Determine the amplitude, period, any vertical translation, and any phase shift of the given graph.
y=4sin(x-pi/8). Thanks...... 1 solutions

You can put this solution on YOUR website!You have stumped all 1000 tutors!
Wow. None of has even heard of amplitude, let alone period, vertical translation and phase shift.
And what is pi? Do you mean apple pie!
And did you "sin" over apple "pie"?
Who 8 the pie?

Polynomials-and-rational-expressions/290992: The Question is c^3+16cd+48cd
I looked at 16cd and I figured what you had to add to get 16
(c+14cd) (c+2cd)
In the back of the book it stated (c+12cd) (c+4cd)
Here is the example from the textbook to give a more clear explaination
x^2-10xy+21y^2
X^2-10xy+21y^2=(x-3y)(x-7y)
MY question is how can my answers be correct . Why would the text book answer say that 12 and 4 is the answer. I know that is another sum of 16 . 1 solutions

FOIL your answer back to the original.
Neither of your answers are correct, I promise that you copied several things wrong.

Linear_Equations_And_Systems_Word_Problems/290984: Trucking company needs to move 21 tons of gravel. You have 8 qualified drivers in the company and two types of trucks. One type can haul 5 tons. The other can haul 3 tons. An insurance requirement specifies that 5-ton trucks must have two drivers in the cab. 3 ton trucks only need one driver. Set up two equations for this problem. One to represent the drivers and one to represent the amount of tonnage hauled. Let X represent the number of 5-ton trucks and y the number of 3 ton trucks. Solve for x and y that will satisfy both equations. That is, determine how many of each size of truck should be used to move the gravel in one trip, using all available drivers. 1 solutions

Polynomials-and-rational-expressions/290969: Solve using the rational root theorem x^4-5x^3+11x^2-25x+30
My Work:
p/q= 30/1 30= +- 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15, and 30
1= +- 1
possible rational roots = 1, 2 ,3, 5, 6, 10, 15, 30
I have discovered that 3 is a root. I used synthetic division and got a remainder of zero. Now what do i do? 1 solutions
Answer 210524 by richwmiller(9135) on 2010-04-11 21:59:44 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!Yes it is.
What did you get after synthetic division?
x^3-2 x^2+5x-10
1,2,5,10 right.
Do the same thing and find the other real root.
After this you will get a quadratic equation and you can use the quadratic formula to find the complex roots or factor it.
You should be able to factor it by grouping which is unFOILing.
