Travel_Word_Problems/607338: You are going 158mph in Indianapolis which is about 1200 miles west of Dayton, when the cop catch up to you. If you stole the car at 11 pm in Dayton, how long did it take you to get to Indy, and what time is it when the cops saw you? You see a spike in the road about 3 miles up the road, so you decide to cross over the median, ( in a semi circle motion) and turn back around and head to Canada for safety. You accelerate at 1000ft/s/s how log does it take you to get back up to your cruisig speed of 158mph? If Canada is 450 miles away from where you are how long will it take you to get there assuming there will be no more cops in your way.

There is no way you are going to maintain that speed for so long. Traffic jams will slow you down. You will run out of gas long before that however.
as far as turning around you won't make it at your speed.
You saw a spike three miles away! I don't think so. You are lucky to spot one 30 ft away.
You won't get across the border either. Have you tried to cross the border since 9/11?

Quadratic_Equations/606745: I am confused. Would someone please check this problem out and clarify the correct answer for me? I submitted the problem and two different tutors on this site have given me different answers. Now I do not know which answer is correct.
the problem is:
find the vertex, the line of symmetry, and the max or min value of f(x), then graph the function.
f(x) = 1/3(x+5)^2 + 3
I received the answer:
vertex: (-5, 3)
line of symmetry: x = 5
and, 3 as the minimum value of f(x)
one tutor said the line of symmetry is -5, and the other said it is 5

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
25000+.02x=20000+.03x
5000=.01x
500000=x
You have to sell more than $500000 for the second plan to be worth more than the first.
