If it is 90 ft. from home to first, how far does the catcher have to throw to catch someone stealing second base?
Give your answer as a radical expresion in simplest form and then stimate the lenght to the nearest tenth of a foot. 1 solutions
Answer 211378 by josmiceli(9664) on 2010-04-15 20:10:26 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! It is telling you that ft is one
side of the square, and it is asking you
for the distance between opposite corners.
The sides are all equal to ft
and, for a square, the diagonal and a side
are in the ratio to ,
so I can say
Multiply both sides by
ft (rounded to nearest 1/10 th)

Answer 208286 by josmiceli(9664) on 2010-03-31 18:01:55 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The best way to think of it is:
The axis of symmetry is where
is midway between the roots of the equation.
Then you find the vertex by plugging in
back into the equation to get , then
is the vertex.
An easy formula is: if the equation is in the form
, then the axis of symmetry is at

The y-intercept is at
---------------------------------------
I'll do your 1st problem:
The y-intercept is at
Now find roots:

The axis of symmetry is midway between the 2 roots which are:
root1 =
root2 =
is midway between these roots, so
 is the axis of symmetry
And the simple formula gives the same answer:

Now plug this result back into the equation:

So, the vertex is at (-3,-20)
I'll plot the equation:

Graphs/287086: man look im a kid i need help in algebra 1 im not wanting to pay i just need help i am begging you please help me find a free online tutor 1 solutions
Answer 208162 by josmiceli(9664) on 2010-03-30 21:11:56 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!Hi,
I was a kid once, too, and before I got pretty good with algebra,
I used to struggle with multiplication tables until blood came out
of my ears.
You might have a teacher who is not good at 1-on-1 teaching, or
too busy to do it
You might have an algebra book that's not too good.
I can do problems now and then, but I couldn't go back to square 1
and bring you back up.
Are there any volunteers where you live? There might be. I volunteered
once myself to tutor after school. That's something you could Google.
A volunteer might direct you to a really good book, too.
It's worth it to keep trying, but don't bang your head against the wall.
Go back as far as you must go to clear up your confusion.
Good luck.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!first find out how many cm in a km
 cm/m x m/km = cm/km
Now how far does the car go in 1 revolution of the wheel?
It goes 1 circumference which is
 cm
How far does the car go in 1 min?
 revolutions/min
 cm/rev x rev/min = cm/min
Now find this in cm/hr
 min/hr x cm/min = cm/hr
Now find this in km/hr
 cm/hr x km/cm = km/hr
