(k,2k), (2k,6k)
Use the point-slope formula
slope = ( change in y ) / ( change in x )

Trigonometry-basics/732892: PLEASE HELP ME!!! How do I find the reference angle of -404 degrees?!

Answer 448090 by josmiceli(9661) About Me  on 2013-04-02 09:58:47 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
This says to go around the unit circle 404 degrees in the
clockwise direction. If you go around 360 degrees, you're
back where you started, so you have +404+-+360+=+44+
degrees left to go in the clockwise direction.
You now -44 degrees from the reference angle.
I guess (D) is the answer, but it seems like the angle should
be minus.

+-7%2Api%2F2+ is telling you to rotate around the unit circle
+7+ times in the clockwise direction in increments of
+pi%2F2+.
You know that if you rotate by +pi%2F2+ 4 times, you will come
back to where you started. That leaves +3%2Api%2F2+ that you
have to rotate in the clockwise direction.
The rotating arrow is now pointing in the positive vertical
direction. This is the same angle as +pi%2F2+, so

The problem only talks about dozens of
flowers, so that is the unit to use
Let +x+ = dozens of roses she bought
+17+-+x+ = dozens of carnations she bought
given:

Volume/732724: A cube has a volume of 66mm cubed. If the length of a side must be an integer, what is the volume of the next largest cube?

A cube with side = +4+ m has volume = +4%5E3+=+64+ mm3
This is smaller than +66+ mm3
The next larger integer side is +5+, and the volume is

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Set up a proportion:

Call the scaled height +h+ inches
+80+%2F+60+=+h+%2F+9+
+4+%2F+3+=+h+%2F+9+
Multiply both sides by +9+
+12+=+h+
The scaled height is (D) 12 inches

Triangles/732610: Why is a triangle with dimensions of 10in 12in and 16 in an obtuse triangle?
1 solutions

Answer 447938 by josmiceli(9661) About Me  on 2013-04-01 15:09:34 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Because the angle opposite the 16 in side
must be greater than 90 degrees for the
triangle to be obtuse.
For now, call the 16 in side +x+
If the opposite angle was exactly 90 degrees, then
+10%5E2+%2B+12%5E2+=+x%5E2+
+100+%2B+144+=+x%5E2+
+x%5E2+=+244+
+x+=+sqrt%28+244+%29+
+x+=+15.62+
This is less than +16+, so the angle opposite
the +16+ in side must be greater than 90 degrees

Travel_Word_Problems/732463: a boat has a speed of 9.0 km/hr, in still water and is traveling down a river with a current of 2.0 m/s. What will be its "riverbank" velocity going down and then upstream? At what angle would this boat have to travel across the river in order to move straight across? Thank you :D

Answer 447855 by josmiceli(9661) About Me  on 2013-04-01 02:34:59 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Going upstream, the speed along the riverbank
is +9+-+2+=+7+ m/s
Going downstream, the speed along the riverbank
is +9+%2B+2+=+11+ m/s
The boat should travel at angle +a+,
( heading against the current )
so that +sin%28a%29+=+2%2F9+
This is +9+ m/s at angle +a+, and
+2+ m/s will bring the boat straight across.
You can find +a+

Answer 447630 by josmiceli(9661) About Me  on 2013-03-31 10:26:16 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You have to picture this triangle with the 3rd side being
formed by the surface of a table and the 2.5 cm side and the
16.5 cm side above the table. The junction of the given sides
have a hinge between them so you can make any size triangle
you want with the 3rd side being the table's surface.
--------------
Spread the hinged sides out so the given sides lay out flat
on the table. Now you have the limit of how long the 3rd
side can be- it is +2.5+%2B+16.5+=+19+ cm
--------------
Now swing the 2.5 cm side back so it fold onto the 16.5 cm side
and lay it on the table. This tells you the short limit of the 3rd
side. It is +16.5+-+2.5+=+14+
---------------
So the 3rd side has to be between 19 and 14. It can't be 14
because that would be just a line. The answer is D. 17
