You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I believe this to be the actual problem?
Negative exponents turn integers into fractions, and if they are already in the denominator they are flipped into the numerator.

Now you cancel the x's, you have six in the numerator and 3 in the denominator,

cancel out three, and you are left with;

Linear-systems/97849: This question is from textbook
if five times the smaller of two consecutive integers is added to three times the larger, the result is 59. find the integer 1 solutions
Answer 71266 by elima(1433) on 2007-09-13 12:21:04 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!Let x be the smaller number;
x+1 is the larger number;
5x+3(x+1)=59
5x+3x+3=59
8x=59-3
8x=56
x=7
x+1=8
So the numbers are; 7,8

Expressions-with-variables/97802: How do you solve 4x-y=19? Do you replace in the x and then a y with any #? 1 solutions
Answer 71184 by elima(1433) on 2007-09-12 20:55:53 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!You choose a value for one of the variables and then solve the equation for the other.
4x-y=19
choose a value for x;
x=1
4(1)-y=19
4-y=19
-y=15
y=-15
If you are asked to graph, then you should choose at least 3 values for x and then solve for y.

Numbers_Word_Problems/97742: Of the three consecutive integers, the sum of the smallest two integers is equal to 33 less than three times the largest. Find the integers. 1 solutions
Answer 71117 by elima(1433) on 2007-09-12 17:44:12 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!Let the first integer = x
the next one = x +1
the third = x+2
x+(x+1)=3(x+2)-33
2x+1=3x+6-33
2x-3x=6-33-1
-1x=-28
x=28
1st integer = 28
second = 29
third = 30
check:
28+29=3(30)-33
57=57

Proportions/97480: state weather the ratios are proportional
1. 50 over 40 equal 5 over 4
2. 12 to 11, 36 to 33
3. 20:40, 1:2
4. 33 over 36 equals 44 over 48 1 solutions
Answer 70994 by elima(1433) on 2007-09-11 20:19:22 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!They are proportional if when you cross multiply they equal;
1. 50 over 40 equal 5 over 4

50*4=200
40*5=200
2. 12 to 11, 36 to 33

12*33=396
36*11=396
3. 20:40, 1:2

20*2=40
1*40=40
4. 33 over 36 equals 44 over 48

33*48=1584
44*36=1584
They are all proportions

You can put this solution on YOUR website!Write an inequality to describe a number greater than three.The next one is,Write an inequality to describe a number less than or equal to -2.The next one is,Solve the inequality:y+4>-2.And the last one is,Solve the inequality:x-3<5
1) x>3
2)
3)y+4>-2
subtract 4 from both sides;
y>-6
4)x-3<5
add 3 to both sides;
