I would be grateful for any assistance available. The problem states: A circular path around a lake has a diameter of 1,500 feet (ft). Pranotti jogs around the path 5 times for her morning run. How far does she run? Use 3.14 for pie and round your answer to the nearest foot. 1 solutions
Answer 97023 by elima(1433) on 2008-03-19 13:21:08 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!The diameter of a circle is the length across the center.The formula for circumference (which is the length around the circle);
c=d
c=15000
c=4710
So the distance around the pond is, 4710, since he went around it 5 times we multiply;
4710(5)=23550ft

Linear-equations/132545: This question is from textbook algebra math 009
Sorry, I thnk I confussed thing when I plac an = at the end.
The equation is: 3(4x+2)= 2(1x+5)+8,
SOORY! But I'm going to study that one as well, I see it is an equation also that I just might have, thank you. But, don't stop. 1 solutions
Answer 96892 by elima(1433) on 2008-03-18 13:35:27 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!3(4x+2)= 2(1x+5)+8,
distribute the 3 and the 2;
12x+6=2x+10+8
subtract 6 and 2x from each side;
12x-2x=10+8-6
10x=12
divide each side by 10;
x=12/10

Pythagorean-theorem/132521: If the area of a square is 169 square centimeters, what is the length of the diagnal?
1 solutions
Answer 96883 by elima(1433) on 2008-03-18 13:05:41 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!If the area of a square is 169 square centimeters, what is the length of the diagnal?
formula for area of square;

take the square root of each side;

13=s
so the sides of the square are 13, now we can use Pythagoreans thereom to find the diagonal;

take square root of each side;

26 = c
so diagonal = 26

Quadratic_Equations/131608: it says to use a table of values to graph the function
y=x^2-3 1 solutions
Answer 96165 by elima(1433) on 2008-03-12 13:24:46 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!You choose a value for one of the variables and solve the equation to find the other.
y=x^2-3
x | y
------
0 |
1 |
2 |
Now you solve the equation to find what y equals;

y=0-3
y=-3
x | y
-------
0 | -3

y=1-3
y=-2
x |y
-----
0 |-3
1 |-2
Now you do the last

The perimeter of a rectangle is 114 ft.Its length is 3 more than 2x its width.Find the dimensions of the rectangle. 1 solutions
Answer 90665 by elima(1433) on 2008-01-30 08:52:56 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!The perimeter of a rectangle is 114 ft.Its length is 3 more than 2x its width.Find the dimensions of the rectangle.
perimeter=2L+2w
L=2w+3
114=2(2w+3)+2w
114=4w+6+2w
Subtract 6 from both sides and collect like terms;
108=6w
divide each side by six:
18=w
L=2(18)+3
L=39

Geometry_proofs/115274: I do not understand how inscribed angles in a circle works. My teacher asks me questions like to find angles of the stuff in a circle, then i get confused. she says that some are congruent and such, it is difficult for me. You can put this solution on YOUR website!Allen bought 20 stamps at the post in 37 cents and 20 cents denominations. If the total cost of the stamps was $7.06, how many 37 cents did Allen buy?
==========================================================================
x+y=20
.37x+.20y=7.06
-------------------
y=20-x
.37x+.20(20-x)=7.06
.37x+4-.20x=7.06
.37x-.2x=7.06-4
.17x=3.06
x=18
18+y=20
y=20-18
y=2
Allen bought 18 37 cent stamps

Equations/114983: x=3y+7
x+y=-5
Could someone show me step by step. I am not clear on how to do this yet. 1 solutions
Answer 83674 by elima(1433) on 2007-12-06 11:46:07 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!Since you do not give any directions of how the teacher wants it solved, I will go ahead and solve it by substitution;
x=3y+7
x+y=-5
============
Since we already have one of the equations solved for x, lets substitute x in the other equation with that;
(3y+7)+y=-5
4y+7=-5
4y=-12
y=-3
-------------------
now we have what y =, so we can use that in either equation and solve for x;
x=3(-3)+7
x=-9+7
x=-2
-------------------
Let me know if you need it solved another way

Linear_Algebra/113541: Please help. Please understand that I am not sure what topic to pick for this
question but i really need help, please.
Solve the following system of linear inequality by graphing
3x - y ≤ 6
x ≥ 1
y ≤ 3
Thanks
JMS 1 solutions
Answer 82634 by elima(1433) on 2007-11-30 18:16:00 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!3x - y ≤ 6
x ≥ 1
y ≤ 3
====================
First put the first equation in slope-intercept form;
3x - y ≤ 6

I am unable to graph a vertical line, so I've done two, y≥3x-6 and
y ≤3. The third line x ≥1, will e the vertical line running thru the 1 one the x-axis. All lines are solid and you shade the area x ≥ 1 to the right of the line, y ≤ 3 the area below the line and y ≥3x-6 the area to the left and up. I hope you understand all this.
