Travel_Word_Problems/501524: Alice is an alligator. Her swimming speed is 1.80m/s.
How much time is needed for her to swim 200m in a lake?
I got this one the equation I used was t=d/r (time=distance/rate). I got 111.1s
Is this right?
The next couple of questions build off each other. The one I am currently stuck on is:
Alice swims 1.80m/s in still water.
Alice then swims 200m DOWNSTREAM in a river taking 80s. What is the speed of the current?
I tried to rearrange and solve the previous equation for (r) since rate is what the unknown is, but ti doesn't come out right I get like 16000s. i need to know what I am doing wrong.
I need help mainly with comprehension of the question, I need to know what to ask myself to get the equation going. Please help.
