Probability-and-statistics/350275: Statistic: Counting and Multiplication Principle
here is my problem!
1) seven shoppers arrive simultaneously at the express lane checkstand of a local supermarket. If the shoppers line up at random, what's the probability they end up in the alphabetical order of their names?
2)Suppose 6 notes were written and 6 envelopes were addressed. Accidentally, the notes were inserted into the envelopes at random and then mailed. What is the probability all the notes arrive at the correct destination?
3) Four people get on a bus that makes six regular stops. Find the probability that at least two of the people get off the bus at the same stop? 1 solutions

Proportions/350188: Solve each proportion and then check.
x+10/x-6= x/x+4
HELP ME PLEASE!! :) 1 solutions
Answer 250309 by edjones(7569) on 2010-09-30 13:12:08 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!(x+10)/(x-6)= x/(x+4) I am guessing that this is the problem. Help tutors. Use parentheses!
(x+10)(x+4)=x(x-6) multiply each side by (x-6)(x+4)
x^2+14x+40=x^2-6x
20x+40=0
20x=-40
x=-2

Probability-and-statistics/350181: Only 4% of people have Type AB
blood. A bloodmobile has 12 vials of blood on a rack. If the dis-
tribution of blood types at this location is consistent with the
general population, what’s the probability they find AB blood in:
a) None of the 12 samples?
b) At least 2 samples?
c) 3 or 4 samples? 1 solutions
Answer 250298 by edjones(7569) on 2010-09-30 12:49:27 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!Let x=.04 and y=.96
expand (x+y)^12
.
a) y^12=.6127
.
b) 12xy^11+y^12=.9191
1-.9191=.0809
.
c) 12C3=220, 12C4=495
220x^3y^9+495x^4y^8=.0106
