1 solutions

Answer 178477 by checkley77(12569) About Me  on 2009-11-29 17:57:30 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A(-6,2),B(-3,6),and C(5,0) ?
D=SQRT[(X2-X1)^2+(Y2-Y1)^2]
D=SQRT(-3+6)^2+(6-2)^2=SQRT(3^3+4^2)=SQRT(9+16)=SQRT25=5 ANS. A TO B.
D=SQRT(5+3)^2+(0-6)^2=SQRT(8^2-6^2)=SQRT(64+36)=SQRT100=10 ANS. B TO C.
D=SQRT(5+6)^2+(0-2)^2=SQRT(11^2-2^2)=SQRT(121+4)=SQRT125=11.18 ANS. C TO A.
5+10+11.18=26.18 ANS. FOR THE PERIMETER.

Quadratic_Equations/243535: Please answer this question:
You have a pool that measures 8 yards by 10 yards. You want to build a deck around all four siddes of the pool and you want to increase the total area to 120 square yards. The deck is the same width on both sides forming a perfect rectangle. What is the width of the deck?
1 solutions

Answer 178472 by checkley77(12569) About Me  on 2009-11-29 17:44:08 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
8*10=80 yds^62 is the area of the pool.
(8+2x)(10+2x)=120
80+20x+16x+4x^2=120
4x^2+36x+80-120=0
4x^2+36x-40=0
4(x^2+9x-10)=0
4(x+10)(x-1)=0
x-1=0
x=1 yd. is the width of the deck.
Proof:
(8+2*1)(10+2*1)=120
(8+2)(10+2)=120
10*12=120
120=120

Answer 178457 by checkley77(12569) About Me  on 2009-11-29 17:19:28 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2n+3m=158
-(2n+5m=181) subtract.
-------------------
-2m=-23
m=-23/-2
m=$11.50 cost of a meal.
2n+3*11.50=158

2n=158-34.50
2n=123.50
n=123.50/2
n=$61.75 cost of a nights lodging.
Proof:
2*61.75+5*11.50=181
123.50+57.50=181

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.16x+.08(320-x)=.14*320
.16x+25.60-.08x=44.8
.08x=44.8-25.60
.08x=19.2
x=19.2/.08
x=240 lbs. of soybean are used.
320-240=80 lbs. of cornmeal is used.
Proof:
.16*240+.08*80=.14*320
38.4+6.4=44.8
44.8=44.8
