What would be the bill for one glass of orange juice and one panckae special? Write a system of equations for the given facts. Solve the system. 1 solutions
Answer 100397 by checkley77(12569) on 2008-04-17 19:41:47 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!3O+5P=7.6 MULTIPLY THIS EQUATION BY 5
5O+4P=7.9 MULTIPLY THIS EQUATION BY -3 & ADD THEM
15O+25P=38
-15O-12P=-23.7
--------------------------
13P=14.3
P=14.3/13
P=1.10 PRICE OF ONE PANCAKE.
3O+5*1.1=7.6
3O+5.5=7.6
3O=7.6-5.5
3O=2.1
O=2.1/7
O=.30 COST OF ONE ORANGE.
1.10+.30=$1.40 COST OF 1 ORANGE & 1 PANCAKE.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!JUST A COMMENT ON NOT KNOWING IF YOU HAVE THE CORRECT ANSWER.
ASSUMING (?) YOU HAVE THE CORRECT FORMULA, WHICH IS THE DIFFICULT PART WHEN SOLVING WORK PROBLEMS, THEN DOING THE PROOF BY REPLACING THE UNKNOWN(S) WITH THE ANSWER WILL HELP A LOT.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
x+y=13 multiply this equation by -22 & add.
22x+36y=356
-22x-22y=-286

You can put this solution on YOUR website!5/x + 2/y = 0 multiply this equation by -2 & add them.
6/x + 4/y = 3
-10/x-4/y=0
---------------------
-4/x=3

x=-4/3 answer.
6/(-4/3)+4/y=3
6*-3/4+4/y=3
-18/4+4/y=3
4/y=3+18/4
4/y=(12+18)/4
4/y=30/4
30y=16
y=16/30
y=8/15 answer.
proof:
5/(-4/3)+2/(8/15)=0

for the x distance we have 6+3=9
for the y distance we have 7+1=8
thus we have a right triangle with 2 sides of 9 & 8 & we're looking for the hypotenuse using:
[a^2+b^2=c^2].
8^2+9^2=h^2
64+81=h^2
145=h^2
h=sqrt145
h=12.0416 is the distance between these 2 points.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!distance between (6,-1)and (-3,7)is:
for the x distance we have 6+3=9
for the y distance we have 7+1=8
thus we have a right triangle with 2 sides of 9 & 8 & we're looking for the hypotenuse using:
[a^2+b^2=c^2].
8^2+9^2=h^2
64+81=h^2
145=h^2
h=sqrt145
h=12.0416 is the distance between these 2 points.
