Answer 103817 by checkley77(12569) About Me  on 2008-05-22 16:40:06 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
30+5L=10.26 MULTIPLY THIS EQUATION BY -2 & ADD.
6O+4L=11.16
-60-10L=-20.52
------------------------
-6L=-9.36
L=-9.36/-6
L=1.56 IS THE PRICE OF EACH LEMON.
3O+5*1.56=10.26
3O+7.80=10.26
3O=10.26-7.80
3O=2.46
O=2.46/3
O=.82 COST OF EACH ORANGE.
PROOF
6*.82+4*1.56=11.16
4.92+6.24=11.16
11.16=11.16

Answer 103815 by checkley77(12569) About Me  on 2008-05-22 16:30:39 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
X+3Y=6
3Y=-X=6
Y=-X/3+6/3
Y=-X/3+2
IF Y=0 THEN:
0=-X/3+2
-X/3=-2
-X=-2*3
-X=-6
X=6 OR (6,0) IS THE X INTERCEPT.
SETTING X=0 THEN:
Y=-3*0+2
Y=2 OR (0,2) IS THE Y INTERCEPT.

Human-and-algebraic-language/142643: In a triangle, the sum of the interior angles is 180 degrees. If angle A is three times as large as angle B, and angles B and C sum to 90 degrees, what is the measure of each angle?
1 solutions

Answer 103814 by checkley77(12569) About Me  on 2008-05-22 16:26:00 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
B+C=90 OR C=90-B
A=3B
NOW WE ADD THE THREE ANCLES A,B & C.
3B+B+(90-B)=180
3B+B+90-B=180
3B=180-90
3B=90
B=90/3
B=30 DEGREES.
A=3830=90 DEGREES.
C=90-30
C=60 DEGREES.
PROOF:
90+30+60=180
180=180

Human-and-algebraic-language/142644: The sum of two numbers is 72. One of the numbers is six more than twice the other. What are the two numbers?

1 solutions

Answer 103813 by checkley77(12569) About Me  on 2008-05-22 16:18:24 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+y=72 or x=72-y
x=2y+6
now we set these equations equal to each other:
72-y=2y+6
-y-2y=6-72
-3y=-66
y=-66/-3
y=22 for one number.
x=72-22
x=50 for the other number.
proof:
50=2*22+6
50=44+6
50=50

Quadratic_Equations/142648: The equation y= -1777x + 27,153 can be used to predict the number y of gun deaths in the United States x years after 2000, that is x=0 corresponds to 2000, x=3 corresponds to 2003, x=4 is 2004 and so on. Predict the number of gun deaths in the year 2004 and 2007 and predict in what year the number of gun deaths will be 11,160Predicted gun deaths in 2000 and 2004 would be?? And what year will there be 11160 gun deaths?
How do I figure this out???? I was doing so good now am stuck again.
Will someone please help with this word problem??

Answer 103812 by checkley77(12569) About Me  on 2008-05-22 16:13:49 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=-1,777x+27,153
for x=4
y=-1,777*4+27,153
y=-7,108+27,153
y=20,045 for the number in 2004.
for x=7
y=-1,777*7+27,153
y=-12,439+27,153
14,714 for the number in 2007.
11,160=-1,777x+27,153
1,777x=27,153-11,160
1,777x=15,993
x=15,993/1,777
x=9 or the year 2009 the projected deaths will be 11,160.

The standard line equaton is [Y=mX+b] where m=slope & b=y intercept.
2x+3y=6
3y=-2x+6
y=-2x/3+6/3
y=-2x/3+2
the slope=-2/3 & the y intercept=2

.5x+2y=9 multiply this equation by -8 & add.
------------------------------------------------------------------
4x-15y=2
-4x-16y=-72
----------------------
-31y=-70
y=-70/-31
y=70/31 answer.
4x-15*70/31=2
4x-1050/31=2
4x=2+1050/31
4x=(2*31+1050)/31
4x=(62+1050)/31
4x=1112/31
x=(1112/31)/4
x=1112/31*1/4
x=1112/124
x=278/31 answer.
Proof:
4*278/31-15*70/31=2
1112/31-1050/31=2
62/31=2
2=2

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
C=2PIR
C=2*3.14*18/2
C=6.28*9
C=56.52 IS THE LENGTH OF THE CIRCUMFERANCE.
AN ANGLE OF 100 IS 100/360 0R .278 OR 27.8% OF THE CIRCUMFERANCE.
56.52*.278=15.71 IS THE LENGTH OF THE 100 DEGREE ARC.

A=3*35+.24X (RED LINE)
B=3*41+.16X (GREEN LINE)
3*41+.16X<=3*35+.24X
123+.16X<=105+.24X
.16X-.24X<=105-123
-.08X<=-18
X>=-18/-.08 [DIVIDING BY A MINUS NUMBER CHANGES THE < SIGN TO THE > SIGN]
X>=225 MILES WILL MAKE BOTH RENTALS COST THE SAME.
THEREFORE ANY MILEAGE MORE THAN 225 MILES MAKES PLAN B A BETTER BUY.

.11x+.09(6000-x)=624
.11x+540-.09x=624
.02x=624-540
.02x=84
x=84/.02
x=4200 invested @ 11%
6000-4200=1800 amount invested @ 9%
Proof:
.11*4200+.09*1800=624
462+162=624
624=624

(2,5) & (7,-3)
First we find the slope (m) (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
m=(-3-5)/(7-2)
m=-8/5 is the slope.
now we replace the x & y terms with one set of points & solve for the y intercept (b) in the equation [Y=mX+b]
5=-8/5*2+b
5=-16/5+b
5+16/5=b
(25+16)/5=b
41/5=b the y intercept.
Thus the equation is:
y=-8x/5+41/5

First we find the slope:
slope(m)=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
slope(m)=(0-5)/(4-0)
slope(m)=-5/4
now replace the x & y terms with one set of points & solve for the y intercept(b) in the line equation [Y+mX+b]
