Answer 109260 by checkley77(12569) on 2008-07-20 17:57:44 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!7x^2=21
x^2=21/7
x^2=3
x=sqrtr3
x=+/-1.732 answer.
----------------------------
(z+3)^2=8
first you must square the (z+3) term.
z^2+6z+9=8
z^2+6z+9-8=0
z^2+6z+1=0
using the quadratic equation:
z=(-6+-sqrt[6^2-4*1*1])/2*1
z=(-6+-sqrt[36-4])/2
z=(-6+-sqrt32)/2
z=(-6+-5.65685)/2
z=-.343/2
z=-.17165 answer.
z=(-6-5.65685)/2
z=-11.65685/2
z=-5.828 answer.
-----------------------------------------
15T^2+7T-2=0
already used the quadratic formula.
this problem can be factored without the formula thus:
(5t-1)(3t+2)=0
5t-1=0
5t=1
t=1/5
t=.2 answer.
3t+2=0
3t=-2
t=-2/3
t=-.66667 answer.
if you insist on the quadratic formula then:
t=(-7+-sqrt7^4-4*15*-2])/2*15
t=(-7+-sqrt[49+120])/30
t=(-7+-sqrt169)/30
t=(-7+-13)/30
t=(-7+13)/30
t=6/30
t=.2 answer.
t=(-7-13)/30
t=-20/30
t=-2/3=-.66667 answer.

Expressions-with-variables/148098: what order of operation do you use to find a solution
(x-2)/5-3/2 = (x+1)/10 1 solutions
Answer 108505 by checkley77(12569) on 2008-07-13 17:49:17 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!(x-2)/5-3/2 = (x+1)/10
first you combine the fractions on the left
[2*(x-2)-3*5)]/5*2)=(x+1)/10
[2x-4-15]/10=(x+1)/10
now combine like terms
[2x-19]/10=(x+1)/10
now cancel out the denominators
2x-19=x+1
now subtract x from both sides
2x-x-19=x-x+1
now conbine the x terms
x-19=1
now add 19 to both sides
x-19+19=1+19
x=20 answer.
proof:
(20-2)/5-3/2 = (20+1)/10
18/5-3/2=21/10
(18*2-3*5)/10=21/10
(36-15)/10=21/10
21/10=21/10

You can put this solution on YOUR website!4x(to the 2nd power)Y(to the 8th power)
_______________________________________
10x(to the 4th power) Y (to the 11th power)
4x^2y^8/10x^4y^11
2/5x^2y^3
---------------------------------------------------------
Y(to the 2nd power) + 8y-9
_________________________
Y(to the 2nd power) -1
(y^2+8y-9)/(y^2-1)
(y+9)(y-1)/(y+1)(y-1)
(y+9)/(y+1)

Answer 108496 by checkley77(12569) on 2008-07-13 16:58:11 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!The formula you want is [A=P(1+r/n)^tn
a) A=150,000(1+.054/1)^20*1
A=150,000(1+.054)^20
A=150,000(1.054)^20
A=150,000*2.863
A=$429,440.97 is the amount after 20 years @ 5.4%.
b)A=150,000(1+.0535/2)^20*2)
A=150,000(1+.02675)^40
A=150,000(1.02675)^40
A=150,000*2.87467
A=$421,200.96 is the amount after 20 years @ 5.35%.
c) A=150,000(1+.0525/12)^20*12
A=150,000(1+.004375)^240
A=150,000(1.004375)^240
A=150,000*2.8511
A=$427,667.10 is the amount after 20 years @ 5.25%

Percentage-and-ratio-word-problems/148042: An investor has $20,000 o invest. If part is invested at 8% and the rest at 12%, how much should be invested at each rate to yield 11% on the total amount invested? 1 solutions
Answer 108428 by checkley77(12569) on 2008-07-12 22:39:16 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!.12X+.08(20,000-X)=.11*20,000
.12X+1,600-.08X=2,200
.04X=2,200-1,600
.04X=600
X=600/.04
X=15,000 INVESTED @ 12%
20,000-15,000=5,000 INVESTED @ 8%
PR00F:
.12*15,000+.08*5,000=2,200
1,800+400=2,200
2,200=2,200
