Find the coordinates of the vertex of the angle. 1 solutions
Answer 51562 by checkley75(3666) on 2007-02-25 16:13:57 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!y=-3x/2-6 now substitute (-3x/2-6) for y in the other equation & solve for x
-3x/2-6=2x/3+7
-3x/2-2x/3=7+6
(-9x-4x)/6=13
-13x/6=-13
-13x=13*6
-13x=78
x=78/-13
x=-6 answer
now substitute -6 for x and solve for y
y=2*-6/3+7
y=-12/3+7
y=-4+7
y=3 answer
 (graph 200x200 pixels, x from -10 to 10, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions y = -3x/2 -6 and y = 2x/3 +7).

Graphs/72150: Graph a line that passes through (4, -2) and is perpendicular to a line whose slope is -3. 1 solutions
Answer 51557 by checkley75(3666) on 2007-02-25 15:37:15 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!a line that is perpendicular to a line with a slope of -3 has a slope of 1/3
(the negative reciprical of the other slope.
thus the equation of this line through (4,-2) is:
-2=4/3+b
b=-2-4/3
b=-10/3
thus the equation is
y=x/3-10/3
 (graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10,
y = x/3 -10/3).

Graphs/72155: Reliable Rentals rents cars for $12.95 per day plus $0.15 per mile. Luic romero works for a company that limits expenses for car rentals to $90 per day. What is the mazimum number of miles that Mr. Romero can drive each day? 1 solutions
Answer 51556 by checkley75(3666) on 2007-02-25 15:32:07 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!12.95+.15x=90.00
.15x=90.00-12.95
.15x=77.05
x=77.05/.15
x=513.66667 miles is the max Luic can drive per day without exceeding the limit of $90.00.

Graphs/72154: Write an equation for the line that passes through (-7, 9) and is perpendicualr to the y-axis. 1 solutions
Answer 51554 by checkley75(3666) on 2007-02-25 15:27:48 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!seeing as a perpendicular line to the y axis doesn't pass through the x axis thus the equation with a y intercept (b) of 9 is:
y=9
as demonstrated by the graphing of
 (graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, y = 9).

Graphs/72002: stan idon't knowwhat youmean by the answer you gave me on lenear equations
8x-4y=16
4x=5y=22
you said multiply 2nd by 2 to get 3rd 8x+5y=22 how did you get 2 and so on i need more explanation or i wont understand 1 solutions
Answer 51494 by checkley75(3666) on 2007-02-24 18:51:31 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!8x-4y=16
4x+5y=22 if this is your second equation ( first= should be a +???) then
ultiply the second equation by -2 and add.
8x-4y=16
-8x-10y=-44
-------------------------------------
-14y=-28
y=-28/-14
y=2 answer. now substitute -2 for y & solve for x
8x-4*2=16
8x-8=16
8x=16+8
8x=24
x=24/8
x=3 answer.
proof
4*3+5*2=22
12+10=22
22=22

Linear-equations/71978: Which of the following is an equation of a line the passes through the point (-4, -2) and has a slope of 3
Answer:y + 2 = 3(x + 4)
I put into solver and was given a different answer. Can you show the work to arrive at problem?
Thanks

Answer 51468 by checkley75(3666) on 2007-02-24 13:52:30 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!A SLOPE OF 3 AND PASSING THROUGH (-4,-2) IS
Y=3X+b NOW SUBSTITUTE THE POINT VALUES FOR X & Y & SOLVE FOR THE Y INTERCEPT(b)
-2=3*-4+b
-2=-12+b
b=-2+12
b=10 THUS THE EQUATION IS
Y=3X+10
---------------------------------------------
YOUR ANSWER IS CORRECT BUT IN A DIFFERENT FORM
Y+2=3(X+4)
Y+2=3X+12
Y=3X+12-2
Y=3X+10 WHICH IS THE SAME AS MY ANSWER.
