f%28x%29=-x%5E2%2B8
Convert to vertex form, y=a%28x-h%29%5E2%2Bk
f%28x%29=-%28x-0%29%5E2%2B8
(h,k)=(0,8)
The vertex lies on the axis of symmetry x=0.
Since the multiplier for x%5E2 is negative, the parabola opens downwards and the value at the vertex is a maximum.

Use polynomial long division,

         x^2 + 5x - 15
        __________________________
x + 2  | x^3 + 7x^2 - 5x - 6
      -  x^3 + 2x^2

1.y=x%2B8+
2.+x%2By=2
Use substitution, substitute eq. 1 into eq. 2 and solve for x.
x%2B%28x%2B8%29=2
2x%2B8=2
2x=-6
highlight%28x=-3%29
Now use eq. 1 to solve for y.
y=-3%2B8

Verify by plugging the solutions into the original equations.
y=x%2B8
5=-3%2B8
5=5
True.
x%2By=2
-3%2B5=2
2=2
True.
It's a good solution.

The first ten words cost f.
There are 18-10 eight words remaining.
The cost of the remaining 8 words is 8%2Aa.
So the total cost, C, is

The vertical asymptotes occur when there is a division by zero.
x-2=0
x=2
The horizontal asymptotes occur as the function goes to infinity.

Rational-functions/349108: 2x-3y+4z=1

3x-y+z=2
So far i have tried this..
2x-3y+4z=-1
x+3y-2x=4 = 3x+0+2z=3

and then i tried another problem to solve that one..
x+3y-2z=4 x+3y-2z=4
3(3x-y+z=2) = 9x-3y+3z=6

and my answer to tis solution was.. 10x-0+z=10
in my opinion it isn't right.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1.2x-3y%2B4z=1
2.x%2B3y-2z=4
3.3x-y%2Bz=2+
You can add eq. 1 and eq. 2 to eliminate y.
2x-3y%2B4z%2Bx%2B3y-2z=1%2B4
4.3x%2B2z=5
Multiply eq. 3 by 3 and add to eq. 2,
9x-3y%2B3z%2Bx%2B3y-2x=6%2B4
5.10x%2Bz=10
.
.
.
Multiply eq. 5 by (-2) and add to eq. 4 to eliminate z.
-20x-2z%2B3x%2B2z=-20%2B5
-17x=-15
highlight%28x=15%2F17%29
Now work backwards to solve for y and z
From eq. 5,
10%2815%2F17%29%2Bz=10
150%2F17%2Bz=170%2F17
highlight%28z=20%2F17%29
