Yes, where they intersect is the solution.
If they don't intersect (parallel lines), there is no solution.
If they are the same line, there are infinitely many solutions.

Expressions-with-variables/258842: a + b = 10
3a + 2b = 40
To solve the above system of equations using the substitution method you could substitute which of the following into the second equation?

a = 10 + b
a = 10 - b
2b = 10 - a

a=10-b
Substitute that into the second eq. for a and solve for b.
a=10-b

Average/258846: Hi, I'm trying to help my son with this problem. My answer was 23/30 is that correct?
Simplify: 2/3 +3/10 -2/5
2/3 + 3/10 = 11/30 then that minus 2/5? When I did it on an online math calculator, it said the answer is 17/30. I don't understand how that can be?
Thanks for your help! :)

Whenever you have fractions, you need a common denominator.
In this case 30 will work. It's also the least common denominator.
Convert each to a fraction with a denominator of 30.
%282%2F3%29%2810%2F10%29=20%2F30
%283%2F10%29%283%2F3%29=9%2F30
%282%2F5%29%286%2F6%29=12%2F30
So then
%282%2F3%29%2B%283%2F10%29-%282%2F5%29=20%2F30%2B9%2F30-12%2F30

Then you choose an x value, calculate the y value or f(x) and plot them as coordinate pairs (x,y) or (x,f(x)) on the coordinate plane.

Since they both equal y, set them equal to each other and solve for x.

Imagine the two lengths like hands on a clock.
Since they're a triangle they cannot exactly line up to form a triangle.
If they were almost on top of each other, like the clock at 12:01, the final leg would be of length,
L=7-4=3
Now imagine they are 180 degrees apart like at 6:00.
At that point, the final leg would have to be
L=7%2B4=11
Since they cannot be either of those two values, the value can be any number in between them.
