Inequalities/413720: 5(t+1)+8= 3(t-2)+6

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
OK! This question has to first be solved by using Distributive Property. Like so:
5(t+1)+8= 3(t-2)+6
5t + 5 + 8 = 3t - 6 + 6
Then simplify! :)
5t + 13 = 3t
13 = 3t - 5t
13 = -2t
t = 13/-2
t = -6.5
I hope I helped!

Equations/413116: How do you solve:
c/5 + 6 = -2

For equations, you have to solve each step carefully. this is how I would solve this kind of equation:
c/5 + 6 = -2
c/5 = -2 - 6
c/5 = -8
The next step is a confusing one. c/5 is a fraction, and the only way to get rid of the 5 is to multiply it by its' reciprocal on both sides. (A reciprocal is basically the number's opposite)
(5/1)*(c/5)=-8*(5/1)
(ALSO: just a note, 5/1 is a fraction, and it can be simplified as 5, but just so you can fully understand reciprocals, I'm writing it in its' fraction form)
The 5's will cancel each other out on c's side of the equation, and 5 will multiply with -8 on the other side, so we will get:
c = -40

Word_Problems_With_Coins/413658: 26 nickels is how much dollars
1 solutions

There are 5 cents in a nickel, and 100 cents in a dollar. So what we would do is make a problem like so:
26*5=X
130=X
26 nickels make 130 cents. So if there are 100 cents in a dollar, then you would divide 130 by 100, like so:
130/100= 1.30
So, there are $1.30 in a nickel, or 1 and 3/10 of a dollar.

We would begin solving this problem by converting this to a fraction, like so:
168/1

Then, we would multiply it by 1 over 3600, to change the bottom to seconds(there are 60 minutes in a second, and 60 second in a minute, and 60 times 60 is 3600):

168/1 * 1/3600 = 168/3600

Then, we would convert the top to feet. There are 5280 feet in a mile, so we would change the top to miles, multiplying 168 over 60 by 5280 over 1.

168/3600 * 5280/1 = 887040/3600

Then, we would simplify the fraction.
887040/3600=246.4
Therefore, the peregrine falcon flies 246.4 feet per second.
You're welcome! I'm glad to help! :)

Percentage-and-ratio-word-problems/413154: Linda went food shopping with $35 in her purse. She spent $28. What percent of the $35 did she spend?

Here's the formula that I like to use to solve problems like these that my math teacher showed me:
% part
- = ----
100 whole
So, for this question, it would be:
x 28
- = --
100 35
Then, you would use cross products, and you would create an equation like so:
35x=100*28
And then solve!
35x=2800
x=2800/35
x=80%
