Determine the area between the x-axis, the vertical lines x = 0 and x = 1 and the following curve:
F(x) = 2x^3 + e^3x
------------------
Int+F%2B%28x%29+=+x%5E4%2F2+%2B+e%5E%283x%29%2F3
F+(1) = 1/2 + e^3/3
F+(0) = 1/3
----------
Area = F+(1) - F+(0) = 1/2 + e^3/3 - 1/3
Area =~ 6.8618 sq units
------------
F+(x) also has a C term, the constant, but they cancel when the 2 values are subtracted, so they can be ignored.

---------
h=-16t^2+32t
Solve for t then h = 16
h=-16t^2+32t = 16
t^2 - 2t + 1 = 0
t = 1 second.

Andrea has 52 coins in dimes and quarters worth $10. How much of each coin does she have?
------------
Form 2 equations.
d + q = 52
10d + 25q = 1000
------
Can you finish it?
==========
Another method:
If all 52 coins were dimes, it would be $5.20
Each dime that is replaced by a quarter adds 15 cents to the total.
1000 - 520 = 480
480/15 = 32 dimes replaced by quarters
--> 32 quarters and 20 dimes

Peggy is 6 years older than Rosalie. In two years, Peggy will be twice as old as Rosalie. Find their ages.
------------
The difference will always be 6 years.
When Peggy is twice as old, 6*2 = 12.
--> 10 and 4

Age_Word_Problems/562149: Question:
Directions: Write a system of equations to model the situation.
Sarah is 25 years older than her son Gavin. In ten years, Sarah will be twice Gavin's age. How old are Sarah and Gavin now?
My Work:
Let x= Sarah's age
Let y= Gavin's age
y=x-25
10+x=2y
Subsitution:
y=2y-25
+25
y+25=2y
-y
25=2y
divide by 2
y=25
2(25)=x
x=50 Sarah is 50 years old and Gavin is 25 years old.

Numeric_Fractions/562135: Hello. I'm a parent trying to help her 6th grade student. How do you solve 9/6 = h/14? 6 doesn't go into 14 evenly so do I need to reduce it to 3/2 and then 3/2 = 21/14? 2 goes into 14 seven times so I multiplied 7 x 3 and got 21. Probably didn't do it right. Please help me refresh my memory. Thanks! Beth

--------------
0 to 60 mi/hr = 0 to 88 ft/sec
88/7.6 =~ 11.6 ft/sec/sec acceleration =~ 0.36 g
------------
71 - 45 = 26 mi/hr = 38 ft/sec change in speed
38/20 = 1.9 ft/sec/sec =~ 0.06 g
Not a lot of acceleration, but "top end" might be an issue.
If the acceleration is constant, which is seldom the case, the distance covered during the acceleration from 45 to 71 in 20 seconds = 1701 feet = 0.32 miles
--------------
Slowing from 71 to 50 mi/hr in 0.8, or in the remaining 0.48 miles, is easy.

I am having a hard time understanding elimination using multiplication and using systems equations - example
Y+2x= -1
Y-4=-2x
-----------
Put the equations in the same form.
y + 2x = -1
y + 2x = 4
---------
These are inconsistent. y+2x can't equal both -1 & 4.
If you graph them, you get parallel lines.
No intersection, no solution.

I have tried but i cannot solve this equation, I would appreciate some help, pls
log(x+1)^2 + log(x+9)^2 = 2log9
-----------
Assuming it's log( (x+1)^2) and not the log^2:
-----
2log(x+1) + 2log(x+9) = 2log9
log(x+1) + log(x+9) = log(9)
log((x+1)*(x+9) = log(9)
x%5E2+%2B+10x+%2B+9+=+9
x = 0, x = -10
-----
-10 won't work, so ignore it.
--> x = 0
