I need to graph 4x+3y=27
----------
It's a straight line, so you need 2 points.
Pick 2 values for x or y, then solve for the other variable.
Picking 0 for x, then 0 for y often works.
Plot the 2 points.
Draw a line thru them.

How do I solve problems like 10+5i/10-5i?
---------
You don't solve it, there's no variable to solve for.
You can rationalize it, get the i out of the denominator.
--------
10+5i/10-5i
Reduce first
= (2+i)/(2-i)
Multiply NUM and DEN by the conjugate of the DEN, 2+i
= (2+i)*(2+i)/(2-i)*(2+i)
= (4 + 4i + i^2)/(4 - i^2)
= (4 + 4i - 1)/(4 + 1)
= (3 + 4i)/5
or 0.6 + 0.8i

Quadratic_Equations/582171: The number of horsepower, H, needed to overcome a wind drag on an automobile is given by H=0.005s^2 + 0.007s - 0.031, where s is the speed of the car in miles per hour. At what speed will the car need to travel to use 200 horsepower to overcome the wind drag?
I tried this several ways and still came up with 199.32 miles per hour which my teacher says is wrong.

Solved by pluggable solver: SOLVE quadratic equation (work shown, graph etc)
Quadratic equation ax%5E2%2Bbx%2Bc=0 (in our case 5x%5E2%2B7x%2B-200031+=+0) has the following solutons:

x%5B12%5D+=+%28b%2B-sqrt%28+b%5E2-4ac+%29%29%2F2%5Ca

For these solutions to exist, the discriminant b%5E2-4ac should not be a negative number.

First, we need to compute the discriminant b%5E2-4ac: b%5E2-4ac=%287%29%5E2-4%2A5%2A-200031=4000669.

Discriminant d=4000669 is greater than zero. That means that there are two solutions: +x%5B12%5D+=+%28-7%2B-sqrt%28+4000669+%29%29%2F2%5Ca.

x%5B1%5D+=+%28-%287%29%2Bsqrt%28+4000669+%29%29%2F2%5C5+=+199.316724300744
x%5B2%5D+=+%28-%287%29-sqrt%28+4000669+%29%29%2F2%5C5+=+-200.716724300744

Quadratic expression 5x%5E2%2B7x%2B-200031 can be factored:
5x%5E2%2B7x%2B-200031+=+%28x-199.316724300744%29%2A%28x--200.716724300744%29
Again, the answer is: 199.316724300744, -200.716724300744. Here's your graph:
graph%28+500%2C+500%2C+-10%2C+10%2C+-20%2C+20%2C+5%2Ax%5E2%2B7%2Ax%2B-200031+%29

9ax^3+15ax^2-14ax
-------------------
There is no easy way. You find the combination that works.
------
In this one, all 3 terms have an a & and x. Factor those out 1st.
That leaves 9x^2 + 15x - 14
------
It'll be
(ax + b)*(cx + d)
a*b = 9, so that's either 1*9 or 3*3
b*d = 14, so that's either 1*14 or 2*7 with different signs (one +, one minus)
Then you find a combination that gives +15x

how do you solve: (1-4i)/(2+3i)
-------
You don't solve it. There's no variable to solve for.
The goal is to rationalize the denominator, ie, get the i out of it.
---------
(1-4i)/(2+3i)
Multiply the NUM and DEN by the conjugate of the DEN, 2-3i
= (1-4i)(2-3i)/((2+3i)(2-3i))
= (2 - 11i +12i^2)/(4 - 9i^2)
= (2 - 11i - 12)/(4 + 9)
= (-10 - 11i)/13
or -10/13 - i(11/13)

2y^2-2y-112
-------------
All the coefficients are even numbers.
2y^2-2y-112
= 2(y^2 - y - 56)
56 = 7*8
===============
This one is not hard.
-------
If the coeff's of the x^2 term and the units have a lot of factors, it's harder.
eg 24x^2 - 34x - 45

The "answer to find it" is a mystery to me.

If you want to find the 3rd derivative:
f(x)=3x^(5)–7x^(3)+2x^(2)+5
f' = 15x^4 - 21x^2 + 4x
f'' = 60x^3 - 42x + 4
f''' = 180x^2 - 42
