Solved by pluggable solver: SOLVE quadratic equation (work shown, graph etc)
Quadratic equation ax%5E2%2Bbx%2Bc=0 (in our case 1x%5E2%2B8x%2B12+=+0) has the following solutons:

x%5B12%5D+=+%28b%2B-sqrt%28+b%5E2-4ac+%29%29%2F2%5Ca

For these solutions to exist, the discriminant b%5E2-4ac should not be a negative number.

First, we need to compute the discriminant b%5E2-4ac: b%5E2-4ac=%288%29%5E2-4%2A1%2A12=16.

Discriminant d=16 is greater than zero. That means that there are two solutions: +x%5B12%5D+=+%28-8%2B-sqrt%28+16+%29%29%2F2%5Ca.

x%5B1%5D+=+%28-%288%29%2Bsqrt%28+16+%29%29%2F2%5C1+=+-2
x%5B2%5D+=+%28-%288%29-sqrt%28+16+%29%29%2F2%5C1+=+-6

Quadratic expression 1x%5E2%2B8x%2B12 can be factored:
1x%5E2%2B8x%2B12+=+%28x--2%29%2A%28x--6%29
Again, the answer is: -2, -6. Here's your graph:

What sort of help did you get?
------------------------
One car travels 25mph faster than another. One car can travel 300 miles in the same time it takes another car to travel 450 miles. Fond the speed of the faster car.
---
d = r*t
300 = r*t
450 = (r+25)*t
-----
450 = r*t + 25t
450 = 300 + 25t
t = 6
-------
300 = r*t
r = 50
----
r+25 = 75 mi/hr

--------------------
That's not true. With a fixed volume, such as a tire, the pressure varies directly with the amount of air.
Tires don't change from 140 to 100 cubic inches.

Here's the fantasy land solution, tho.
PV = k
30*140 = P*100

So
I have a test on polynomial stuff, factoring, completing the square, factoring trinomials, how to change from one form of an equation (general, vertex, factored form) is there any easy way to remember all this stuff because it seems for each equation you're doing somthing different and I'm so lost... The only reasonable approach is to do some of the problems.
Look at the solved problems on this site, but don't just look at them.
If you work some, you'll remember what you did, and how to do them.
