Sequences-and-series/631110: a bicycle wheel rotates 300 times in a minute as long as the rider is pedaling. If the rider stops pedaling, the wheel starts to slow down. Each minute it will rotate only 2/3 as many times as in the preceding minute. how many times will the wheel rotate in the 4th minute after the rider's feet leaves the pedals? Each minute it will rotate only 2/3 as many times as in the preceding minute. how many times will the wheel rotate in the 4th minute after the rider's feet leaves the pedals? Round your answer to the nearest unit.
-------------
The 1st minute it rotates 300*(2/3) = 200 revs
The 2nd it's 2/3 times that, etc
--> 300*(2/3)^4
= 4800/81
=~ 59 revs

Having trouble converting a standard equation into y-intercept form. the equation is 4x=15-x No y value is given.
------------
4x=15-x
x = 3 is the equation.
It's parallel to the y-axis, often called vertical.
There is no y-intercept since it's parallel.
x = 3 or x - 3 = 0 is all there is.

----------------
The 1st is 1 of 5, then 1 of 4, 1 of 3
--> 5*4*3 = 60 (if I understood correctly)

test/630687: find the volume of the bounded area of y=x^2 and y=2-x^2 about x=2
1 solutions

Answer 397165 by Alan3354(30993) About Me  on 2012-07-22 12:56:49 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
find the volume of the bounded area of y=x^2 and y=2-x^2 about x=2
-----------------
Find the area under y = 2-x^2 and above the x-axis:
INT = 2x - x^3/3
Evaluate from -1 to 1
@1 --> 2 - 1/3
@-1 --> -2 + 1/3
-------------- Subtract
Area = 4 -2/3 = 10/3
======================
From that, subtract the area under y = x^2 from -1 to +1 [-1 and +1 are the intersections of the 2 curves]
----------
INT = x^3/3
Area = 1/3 - (-1/3) = 2/3
========================
Area between curves = 8/3 sq units
The 2 curves are symmetrical, so the centroid of the area is (0,1)
Use the Theorem of Pappus to find the volume:
Vol = 2pi*distance to centroid*area
Vol = 2pi*2*8/3 cubic units
Vol = 32pi/3 cubic units
=~ 33.51 CU
