How many liters of a 30% alcohol solution must be mixed with 80 liters of a 90% solution to get a 40% solution?
----------------
You have 80 l of 90%
You add x liters of 30%
80*90 + x*30 = (80 + x)*40
Solve for x

No, you're wrong, you're right. jk
Your equation is correct.
Add another equation, x + y = 7000 and solve them.
========
.06x+.08y=500
x + y = 7000

Rational-functions/648336: Hi,
It has been many years since I've done any Math, and I forgot how to do some simple stuff. Could you please help me to do the steps for this problem?:
1/4=P(A)/(1-P(A)) - - I multiply both sides by the denominator to isolate P(A)
(0.25)(1-P(A))=P(A) - - I multiply both sides by 4/4 to convert to a decimal
0.25-(0.25)P(A)=P(A) - - distribute
0.25=(1.25)P(A) - - ?
P(A)=0.25/1.25 - - ??
P(A)=0.20 .
Thank you very much for your help.
Stephanie

1/4=P(A)/(1-P(A)) - - I multiply both sides by the denominator to isolate P(A)
(0.25)(1-P(A))=P(A) - - I multiply both sides by 4/4 to convert to a decimal
0.25-(0.25)P(A)=P(A) - - distribute
0.25=(1.25)P(A) - - ?
P(A)=0.25/1.25 - - ??
P(A)=0.20 .
===================
1/4 = P/(1-P)
Cross multiply (a shortcut and eliminates fractions)
1-P = 4P
Add P
1 = 5P
P = 1/5 = 0.2

------------------
No, it's not.
3 points determine a plane, unless they're colinear.
In either case, they're in the same plane.

12 fl oz drink = 355 ml
12/355 = 32/q
1 q = 355*32/12 ml =~ 947 ml or cc

------------
Avg speed = 2*50*100/(50+100)

Or, she went 30 km in 27 minutes
r = d/t = 30/27 km/min

Find the slope, x-intercept, and y-intercept of line.
y=-4x-+1
----------
It's in slope-intercept form, y = mx + b
m = slope = -4
b = y-intercept = -1 (I think -+1 = -1)
------------
At the x-intercept, y = 0
0 = -4x - 1
x = -1/4

Numeric_Fractions/647647: Thanks for your reply to my comment about the solution to problem 14557 (ref 647484) but the reply substantiates my claim that the ANSWER given shows the n to be in the denominator and perhaps I was not as lucid in my comment that it didn't emphasize the point. Hopefully, a student will have the opportunity to put both answers (14557 and 647484) together and recognize the truth as given in answer 647484 and understand fully the differences. (It is pretty obvious.)
