(A)170 (B) 199 (C) 200 (D) 206 (E) 198
-------------------
1 to 9 = 9 digits
10 to 99 = 180 digits

189 used, 321 left of 3 each
321/3 = 107 pages starting at 100
---> 206 pages total
Why couldn't you figure that out?

Given two points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2), derive the equation of the line that passes through those two points and write
it in the form y = mx + b. This is called the slope-intercept form of the equation of the line because the two parameters m and b
represent the slope and y-intercept of the line.

Given 2 points example.
Find the equation of the line thru the points (2,1) and (3,5)
---------------------
This is a 2 step process. First find the slope of the line thru the points.
slope, m = diffy/diffx
m = (5-1)/(3-2)
m = 4
---------
Now use y = mx + b with either point to find b, the y-intercept.
y = mx + b
5 = 4*3 + b
b = -7
-------
y = mx + b
y = 4x - 7 is the answer.

Geometric_formulas/285624: if the radius of a circle is tripled, the diameter is also tripled. true or false? I think it is true

It's true.
d = 2r
3d = 2*3r = 6r
----------------
More formally, the diameter is directly related to the radius.
The area is related to the square of the radius, so 3x the radius --> 9x area.

x%5E2+%2B+2x+=+3
x%5E2+%2B+2x+-+3+=+0
(x+3)*(x-1) = 0
x = -3, 1

x/ x-1 + x = 4x - 3/ x - 1

Kim throws a boccie ball 25 yards ahead, then turns 15 degrees and throws another boccie ball 25 yards straight ahead. How far apart, to the nearest yard, will the two balls land?
---------------------------------
The origin and the 2 balls form an isosceles triangle. Dropping an altitude from the origin to the side between the two balls gives 2 right triangles with a hypotenuse of 25 yards and an angle at the origin of 7.5 degrees.
1/2 the distance = 25*sin(7.5) =~ 3.263 yards
The distance is 2x that, =~ 6.526 yards

Rational-functions/285589: Write a function that models the variation.
{x=3 & y=12} if z=2
z varies directly with y and inversely with x.
I tried this problem, and came up with the equation,
z=(1/18y)/x
Is this correct? If not, how do I solve this problem?
Thanks.

use pi/3 + pi/4=7pi/12 find the exact value of sin 7pi/12
-----------------------
sin(pi/3) = 1/2
cos(pi/3) = sqrt(3)/2
sin(pi/4) = sqrt(2)/2
cos(pi/4) = sqrt(2)/2
----------------
sin(A+B) = sin(A)cos(B) + sin(B)cos(A)
sin(7pi/12) = 1/2*sqrt(2)/2 + sqrt(3)/2*sqrt(2)/2
= sqrt(2)/4 + sqrt(6)/4

Miscellaneous_Word_Problems/285441: Please help with the following word problem!
A plane flies 390 mph in still air. It makes a round trip of 5040 miles in a total of 13 hours, one way with the jet stream and the other way against the jet stream. Find the speed of the jet stream.

I know that Rate X Time = Distance, so using J for jet stream and T for time, I tried (390-J) X (T) = 2520 (1/2 the distance since it was round-trip) and (390+J) X (13-T) = 2520. I also tried (390-J) X (T) = (390+J) X (13-T).
I get to a point where I'm not sure what to do with two variables. How would you set this problem up? If I am on the right track, how do I solve for 2 variables?
Thank you so much!
