Hi I was wondering if someone can check to make sure I got the right answers on these two for inequalities
x - (-4)^3x + 1 > 12 I got x >5.909
x -(-64x) + 1 > 12
x + 64x > 11
65x > 11
x > 11/65
That's the inverse of your answer
------------------
4 - 3x < 6 - x I got x <0
4 - 3x < 6 - x
4 < 6 + 2x
-2 < 2x
-1 < x
x > -1

It's higher than that of most people's normal temperature.
Most people's temp is between 98 and 99F.
The person probably has an elevated temperature due to illness.
----------------------------
Our bodies react to an invasion by pathogens by raising its temperature. This is beneficial when combatting many illnesses.
TV ads show aspirin and other OTC meds that "reduce fever." This is not necessarily a good idea and can prolong the illness and/or increase the severity of the illness. It's good for the sales of the product, tho.

Given 2 points example.
Find the equation of the line thru the points (2,1) and (3,5)
---------------------
This is a 2 step process. First find the slope of the line thru the points.
slope, m = diffy/diffx
m = (5-1)/(3-2)
m = 4
---------
Now use y = mx + b with either point to find b, the y-intercept.
y = mx + b
5 = 4*3 + b
b = -7
-------
y = mx + b
y = 4x - 7 is the answer.
------------------------
Another approach using determinants:
|x y 1|
|2 1 1| = 0
|3 5 1|
--------
x(1-5) - y(2-3) + 1(10-3) = 0
-4x + y + 7 = 0
y = 4x - 7
---------

One of the interior angles of a polygon is 95 degrees and rest are each equal to 169 degrees. Find the number of sides of the polygon.
--------------------------
n = # of sides
180*(n-2) = 95 + 169*(n-1)
180n-360 = 95 + 169n - 169 = 169n - 74
11n = 286
n = 26

A line and a point example.
Write in standard form the eqation of a line that satisfies the given conditions. Perpendicular to 9x+3y=36, through (1,2)
-----------------
Find the slope of the line. Do that by putting the equation in slope-intercept form, y = mx + b. That means solve for y.
9x+3y = 36
3y= - 9x + 36
y = -3x + 13
The slope, m = -3
------------------
The slope of lines parallel is the same.
The slope of lines perpendicular is the negative inverse, m = +1/3
----------------
Use y = mx + b and the point (1,2) to find b.
2 = (1/3)*1 + b
b = 5/3
The equation is y = (1/3)x + 5/3 (slope-intercept form)
x - 3y = -5 (standard form)

Two planes leave an airport at the same time, one flying due west at 500km/h and the other flying due southeast at 300km/h. What is the distance between the planes two hours later?

From their starting point, one plane is 1000 km away, the other is 600 km away.
The angle between their paths is 135 degs
s = distance between the planes
