Graphs/309187: how would i solve 3x+3y=9 so that I can graph it?

There's no single solution, so you can't solve it.
The graph is a straight line, and every point on it is a "solution" in the sense that it fits the equation.
3x + 3y = 9
Find y in terms of x:
x + y = 3
y = -x + 3
-----------
Pick 2 values for x and find the corresponding y.
Plot the 2 points.
Draw a straight line thru them.

M= 3 - -1/3 =
5/6 - 1/6
---------------
I think your points are (1/6,-1/3) and (5/6,3) ??
m = (3 + 1/3)/(5/6 - 1/6)
m = (10/3)/(2/3) = 5
--------------------------
Is that what you meant? It's not clear.

If 3, 8, and x represent the lengths of the sides of a triangle, how many integer values for x are possible?
x has to be more than 5 (8-3) and less than 11 (8+3)
That's 6,7,8,9, or 10
5 integers
-------------
Note that it can't be equal to 5 or to 11.

This cannot be solved with the info given.
If it's a right triangle, or isoceles, it can be, but you didn't say it was either.

Linear-equations/308788: Can you show me step by step on how to graph the eqaution and identify the y-intercept of 5y - 3x = -10 I need at least threee points to graph this
1 solutions

Answer 220844 by Alan3354(31532) About Me  on 2010-05-26 17:49:52 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To find the y-intercept, set x=0
5y - 3x = -10
5y = -10
y = -2 --> (0,-2) is the y-int
----------------
To graph it, solve for y
5y = 3x - 10
y = (3/5)x - 2
------------------
Then pick values for x and find y:
x....y
0....-2
5....1
10...4
Plot those, draw a straight line thru them
Only 2 points are needed for a straight line, not 3.

e2x=4
Is 2x an exponent? Use e^2x = 4 for exponents.
e^2x = 4
2x = ln(4)
x = ln(4)/2 = ln(2)
x =~ 0.693147

Travel_Word_Problems/308561: Problem: A rock is thrown from the top of a tall building. The distance, in feet, between the rock and the ground (T) seconds after it is thrown is given by d=-16Tsquared-2T+369. How long after the rock is thrown is it 330 feet from the ground?
I wrote the equation over again and replaced d as 330, making it 330=-16Tsquared-2T+369. I don't even know if this is what I'm supposed to be doing!

----------------------
That's the right approach. Just solve for t
330 = -16t^2 - 2t + 369
-16t^2 - 2t + 39 = 0
(8t + 13)*(-2t + 3) = 0
t = -13/8 (Ignore it)
t = 3/2 seconds
It takes it 1.5 seconds to fall to 330 feet.

y=9x-10
y=-4x+18
I dont know the first step to solving this!
I am supposed to solve by graphing
---------------------
Equation gives a graph of a straight line.
Find 2 points for each eqn, then draw a line thru them.
Where the lines cross is the solution of the system.
------------------------
y=9x-10
Pick 2 values for x and find y.
x = 0, y = -10 --> (0,-10) 1 point
x = 1, y = -1 -- (1,-1) a 2nd point
Plot those 2 points, draw a line thru them.
-----------------------
Do the same for the other eqn.
