You can put this solution on YOUR website!
C= 2.85n + 30.52
a. find and interpret the C-intercept for the line
At the C-int, n=0 (the interpretation)
C = 30.52
----------
b. find and interpret the n-intercept for the line
At the n-int, C = 0
0 = 2.85n + 30.52
n = -30.52/2.85
n =~ -10.7088
---------------
c. graph the line for n ranging from 0 thru 20
---------------
The C-intercept is the point (0,30.52)
At n = 10, C = 2.85*20 + 30.52 = 87.52
A 2nd point is (20,87.52)
It's a straight line, 2 points is sufficient to plot it.

Points-lines-and-rays/341096: so if so what i did what set is equal to 90 degrees since the angles must equal 90 for complementary, and i got x=102/20 and my teacher doesn't want us to simplify that, so i got confused when i had to plug that in to find the measurements of the angles.

2 + 99
3 + 98
etc.
50 pairs, each pair = 101
50*101 = 5050

A line and a point example.
Write in standard form the eqation of a line that satisfies the given conditions. Perpendicular to 9x+3y=36, through (1,2)
-----------------
Find the slope of the line. Do that by putting the equation in slope-intercept form, y = mx + b. That means solve for y.
9x+3y = 36
3y= - 9x + 36
y = -3x + 12
The slope, m = -3
------------------
The slope of lines parallel is the same.
The slope of lines perpendicular is the negative inverse, m = +1/3
----------------
Use y = mx + b and the point (1,2) to find b.
2 = (1/3)*1 + b
b = 5/3
The equation is y = (1/3)x + 5/3 (slope-intercept form)
x - 3y = -5 (standard form)

5=.0002x^2-.316x+127.9
0.0002x%5E2+-+0.316x+%2B+112.9+=+0
Solved by pluggable solver: SOLVE quadratic equation (work shown, graph etc)
Quadratic equation ax%5E2%2Bbx%2Bc=0 (in our case 0.0002x%5E2%2B-0.316x%2B112.9+=+0) has the following solutons:

x%5B12%5D+=+%28b%2B-sqrt%28+b%5E2-4ac+%29%29%2F2%5Ca

For these solutions to exist, the discriminant b%5E2-4ac should not be a negative number.

First, we need to compute the discriminant b%5E2-4ac: b%5E2-4ac=%28-0.316%29%5E2-4%2A0.0002%2A112.9=0.00953599999999999.

Discriminant d=0.00953599999999999 is greater than zero. That means that there are two solutions: +x%5B12%5D+=+%28--0.316%2B-sqrt%28+0.00953599999999999+%29%29%2F2%5Ca.

Quadratic expression 0.0002x%5E2%2B-0.316x%2B112.9 can be factored:
0.0002x%5E2%2B-0.316x%2B112.9+=+%28x-1034.13111231467%29%2A%28x-545.868887685326%29
Again, the answer is: 1034.13111231467, 545.868887685326. Here's your graph:
graph%28+500%2C+500%2C+-10%2C+10%2C+-20%2C+20%2C+0.0002%2Ax%5E2%2B-0.316%2Ax%2B112.9+%29

----------------
Ignore the part about factoring it.

What is r? I am having a hard time putting it in the simplest term
7r/12=-14
the 7r and 12 is a fraction. 7r is the numerator and 12 is the denominator. I am sorry but I didn't know how to type the fraction in this message.
------------------
Type it just like that.
--------------
7r/12 = -14
Multiply by 12
7r = -168
Divide by 7
r = -24

Equations/340906: Solve the following formula for y.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x=9y-5
Solve for y means get y on one side on the equal sign by itself.
x=9y-5
Add 5
x + 5 = 9y
9y = x + 5
Divide by 9
y = (x + 5)/9

Linear-equations/340742: I'm trying to help my friends kid with math homework and its been a while since I've done anything with graphs. The problem is...
The organizers of a walkathon are getting cost estimates from 2 printing companies for brochures to advertise the event.
C=cost in $ and n=#of brochures
Company A C=15+0.10n
Company B C=.25n
a. For what number of brochures are the costs the same for both companies, and what method did you use?
c. What info does the y-intercept represent for each equation?
I remembered enough to help her with b and d, but I'm lost on these two problems. I just can't remember how to find the answer. Thank you for your time.

Company A C=15+0.10n
Company B C=.25n
a. For what number of brochures are the costs the same for both companies, and what method did you use?
C = 15 + 0.10n = 0.25n when they cost is equal
15 + 0.10n = 0.25n
15 = 0.15n
n = 100
The total cost for 100 is the same for either price schedule.
-----------------------
c. What info does the y-intercept represent for each equation?
Assuming y is the cost, and x is the number of brochures,
The y-intercept is the cost of zero (0) brochures, or the base cost.

Assuming the 146 is from point to point:
s = (146/2)*sin(22.5)
s =~ 27.94 inches (side length)
-------------------
Area = ns^2*cot(180/n)/4 n = 8, # of sides

It has to be 2 different numbers.
x + x = 6 --> x = 3
------------
Then, you have (x + x)^2 = 20. That's not what it says.
------------
x = 1 number
y = the other number
x + y = 6
x^2 + y^2 = 20 not (x+y)^2 = 20

Well I need help with solving systems of equations with circles. My teacher really did not explain how to solve the equation algebraically.
The problem is:
(x+2)^2 + (y-2)^2= 9
(x-1)^2 + (y-2)^2=16
I graphed the circles by plotting (-2,2) with a radius of 3 for the first circle, and (1,2) with a radius of 4 for the second circle. Please assist me in solving the equations algebraically.
Thank you so much!

Solved by pluggable solver: SOLVE quadratic equation (work shown, graph etc)
Quadratic equation ax%5E2%2Bbx%2Bc=0 (in our case 1x%5E2%2B5x%2B-500+=+0) has the following solutons:

x%5B12%5D+=+%28b%2B-sqrt%28+b%5E2-4ac+%29%29%2F2%5Ca

For these solutions to exist, the discriminant b%5E2-4ac should not be a negative number.

First, we need to compute the discriminant b%5E2-4ac: b%5E2-4ac=%285%29%5E2-4%2A1%2A-500=2025.

Discriminant d=2025 is greater than zero. That means that there are two solutions: +x%5B12%5D+=+%28-5%2B-sqrt%28+2025+%29%29%2F2%5Ca.

x%5B1%5D+=+%28-%285%29%2Bsqrt%28+2025+%29%29%2F2%5C1+=+20
x%5B2%5D+=+%28-%285%29-sqrt%28+2025+%29%29%2F2%5C1+=+-25

Quadratic expression 1x%5E2%2B5x%2B-500 can be factored:
1x%5E2%2B5x%2B-500+=+%28x-20%29%2A%28x--25%29
Again, the answer is: 20, -25. Here's your graph:
graph%28+500%2C+500%2C+-10%2C+10%2C+-20%2C+20%2C+1%2Ax%5E2%2B5%2Ax%2B-500+%29

If an object is thrown upward with an initial velocity of 96ft. per second, its height after 1 sec. is given by h=96t + 16t^2. Find the number of seconds before the object hits the ground.
-------------------
Your equation is not right, it's h(t) = 96t - 16t^2. If it's +16t^2, it would never stop going up.
h(t) = -16t^2 + 96t
It's a ground level when h(t) = 0
h(t) = -16t^2 + 96t = 0
16t^2 = 96t
t = 0 (at the start)
t = 6 seconds (at impact)
