You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a)5^x=7
x*log(5) = log(7)
x = log(7)/log(5)
-----------------
b)3^x+2=2^x
I think you mean
3^(x+2) = 2^x
(x+2)*log(3) = x*log(2)
x*log(3) + log(9) = x*log(2)
x(log(3) - log(2)) = -log(9)
x = -log(9)/log(1.5)
x =~ -5.419

Trigonometry-basics/430337: word problem:
A double axel is a figure-skating jump in which the skater makes 2.5 revolutions in the air. If a skater is in the air for 0.66s during a double axel, what is her average angular speed to the nearest degree per second?
this is how i solved it, is it right?
2.5 revolutions = 900 degrees
so 900 divided by .66 equals 1364%

Numbers_Word_Problems/430168: How do I translate this sentence into an equation: one third of the differnce of a number and seven is 30? do I begin with division or subtraction? I'm so lost on this one.

Answer 298742 by Alan3354(30968) About Me  on 2011-04-02 09:44:00 (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
n = the number
The difference can be n-7 or 7-n, a bit loose there.
Using n-7 as the difference:
(1/3)(n-7) = 30
or (n-7)/3 = 30

Evaluate the given at x = -5. Problem is f(x)= top part is 1/2x+6 if x is less than or equal to -5. Bottom one is -1/4x+7 if x is greater than -5
------------------
Bottom one is -1/4x+7 if x > -5
That doesn't apply at x = -5, only > -5.
----------------
1/2x+6 if x <= to -5
(1/2)*-5 + 6 = 7/2

x%5B12%5D+=+%28b%2B-sqrt%28+b%5E2-4ac+%29%29%2F2%5Ca

For these solutions to exist, the discriminant b%5E2-4ac should not be a negative number.

First, we need to compute the discriminant b%5E2-4ac: b%5E2-4ac=%285%29%5E2-4%2A1%2A24=-71.

The discriminant -71 is less than zero. That means that there are no solutions among real numbers.
