It's an error prone business.
You just have to be careful.
There are sites that go to 10x10, maybe higher, you can use those to check your answers.

Another method, using determinants:
----------
Parabola
x y x^2 Coeff
Point 1 -2 40 4 1
Point 2 1 7 1 1
Point 3 3 15 9 1
--------------
I have an Excel sheet that does these.
--> y = 3x^2 - 8x + 12
---------------------------
That was no help at all, except for confirming the solution.

need help seeing if these two expressions are equivalent
-2(3m-7) 14-6m
You put -1 in for M
-----------------
-2(3m-7) = -2*3m + -2*(-7) = -6m + 14
= 14 - 6m, so they're equal.
--------------
Testing with any number is not proof they're equal.
Testing with a number and finding them not equal is sufficient to disprove it, but it's not a sufficient test to prove that they're equal for ALL values of m.

13+14 = 27
486000/27 = 18000
-------
13*18000 = 234000
14*18000 = 252000

---------------
Find the squares of the 3 sides, c^2 = 144, a^2 = 49 & b^2 = 36
------
If c^2 = the sum of the other 2, it's a right triangle
If c^2 < the sum, it's acute.
If c^2 > the sum, it's obtuse.

Beth is four more than three times older than Ted. The sum of their ages is 60. How old is Ted?
=======================
3 times older is 4 times as old.
B = Beth's age, T = Ted's age
B = 4T + 3
B + T = 60
(4T+3) + T = 60
5T + 3 = 60
T = 57/5 = 11.4
---------------------
The author of this problem thinks 3 times older is the same as 3 times as old.
If that's true, what is 1 time older? The same age? If so, why is it called older?
-----------
Don't even mention "100 times thinner." 1 times thinner is zero, so how can something be 100 times thinner, or 10 times closer.
English, learn it.
It's a bad problem, no integer solution.

I know to use r=d/t for the motorcycle it would be r+10=196/t for the car r=161/t but I'm confused how to put them together to make the equation. I'm thankful for any help.
