Comment from student: Thank you for clearing that up for me. I had an idea about pythagores being in there in some way. The teacher that I have for this semester is the head of the math department- from what I have heard, many of her students are struggling (and some even dropped out of the course). It is comforting to know that there are people like you who know the right way to help others learn math.
