Comment from student: I'm so sorry I never said thank you for helping me with my problem. I "liked" you on Facebook, then I got distracted and forgot to come back. If you're willing, I need some more help on the same problem. It seems they wanted me to show my work even though they never asked for it. I've tried to do the problem myself but something tells me I'm a million miles away. Could you check it out for me? I'd appreciate it. -2x^2+76x+430 -2(x^2-38*x-215) = 2*(x^2-38*x-215) Expanded term 2 by using associative properties (x2-38*x-215) which becomes 2*x2-2*38*x-2*215 Multiply numerator integers Becomes 2*x2-76*x-2*215 2*x2-76*x-2*215 multiply numerator integers it becomes 2*x2-76*x-430 2*x(x-43) +5(x-43) Expanded term 2* by using associative property on (x-43) It becomes 2*x*x-2*43+5*(x-43) Look at 2*x*x-2*43+5*(x-43) Multiplied numerator integers it becomes 2*x*x-86*x+5*(x-43) Look at 2*x*x-86*x+5*(x-43) Reduce similar several occurrences of x to x2 it becomes 2*x2-86 *x+5*(x-43) Look at 2*x2-86*x+5*(x-43) Expanded term 5 by using associative property on (x-43) it becomes 2*x2-86*x+5*x-5*43 Look at 2*x2-86*x+5*x-5*43 Multiplied numerator integers it becomes 2*x2-86*x+5*x-215 Eliminate similar terms, -86*x5*x replacing them with (-86+ 5)* x It becomes 2*x 2+ (-86+5)*x-215 Look at 2*x2+ (-86+5)*x-215 Added fractions or integers together it becomes 2*x2+ (-81)*x-215 Look at 2*x2 + (-81)*x-215 Removed extra sign in front of -81 it becomes 2*x2-(-81)*x-215 Look at 2*22+ (-81)*x-215 Remove unneeded parentheses around factor 81 it becomes. 2*x2-81*x-215 Result: -2(x^2-43x+5x-215 = -2(x+5) (x-43)
