Solution is written as 5^0 which contradicts the constraint on the problem as you cannot use any other numbers, and in this case you ended up using 0.

Comment from student: I submitted the question from chapter 7.1 #18 exactly how it was in the book (word for word). Then I got an email from Delilah R. inquiring if I wanted the actual equation. The email with this site was having problems going threw to her (kept going blank). Therefore, I did not know what else to do but resubmit the problem hoping that someone could answer. I certainly did not intend to brake any rules of etiquette. As for the equation/expression, how do do YOU suggest I submit this problem?

Santa Fe Company purchased merchandise for resale from Mesa Company with an invoice price of $24,000 and credit terms of 3/10, n/60. The merchandise had cost Mesa $16,000. Santa Fe paid within the discount period. Assume that both buyer and seller use a perpetual inventory system.
1. Prepare entries that the buyer should record for the purchase and the cash payment.
2. Prepare entries that the seller should record for the sale and the cash collection.
3. Assume that the buyer borrowed enough cash to pay the balance on the last day of the discount period at an annual interest rate of 8% and paid it back on the last day of the credit period. Compute how much the buyer saved by following this strategy. (Assume a 365-day year and round dollar amounts to the nearest cent.)

Comment from student: I am still confused about the logic. Could you help? If he has 10% less quarters than nickels, why does he have 10% of nickels? It doesn't add up to 100%. I guess I'm not thinking about this right, but I don't understand why (.1n).
