0.05 significance level to test the claim that most people believe that the Loch Ness monster exists. How is the conclusion affected by the fact that Internet users who saw the question could decide whether to respond?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
It's not a random sample, because the population is skewed towards those who have Internet and are willing to respond. With a sample this large, the SE is very small and statistical significance is easier to achieve, although the meaning of such is not so clear.
Ho: mu=0.50
Ha: mu ne 0.50
alpha is 0.05
one sample proportion z+(phat-.50)/sqrt(.5*.5/21346)
This is z=0.19/0.0034
z=55, highly significant P<0.0001
