Question 2335
with fractions, get rid of them first!. With 2 terms, you basically cross-multiply, but with more terms, you have to do it "properly", so i shall do this one properly, so you can see...

Look at the denominators and decide the smallest number that goes into all the denominators. Here it is 10. We therefore multiply everything by 10...we can do anything we like to an equation SO LONG AS WE DO THE SAME THING TO ALL THE TERMS! So,

{{{(10(2x+10)/(2)) = (10(x+2)/(10))}}}

The reason is that we can now simplify each term as:

{{{5(2x+10) = (x+2)}}}

Now multiply out the brackets and collect like terms together:

10x+50 = x + 2
9x+50 = 2
9x = -48
x = -48/9
